2 year old kicks and screams every time he gets his diaper changed.. Is this just a phase? He doesn't seem bothered any other time

Just being a 2 year : 2 year Olds have figured out they can sometimes get what they want through kicking and screaming, especially if they have wimpy parents. He is feeling you out right now to find out if you are wimpy. If he finds you are, then it will spread to other venues. So hold your ground here and show him who's boss. Be loving but firm, he's not going to get his way acting like that. Good luck! ...Read more

Need more info: Is he on any meds right now or prior to rash? Any fever prior? If he isn't itchy and it doesn't bother him, i suspect it is probably viral and will resolve in 24 to 48 hrs. Just monitor him and take him in if no resolution in 3 or 4 days or if his symptoms worsen. ...Read more

How does hand foot and mouth disease effect a 5 1/2 year old?

Fever/spots/pain: Hfm varies more in intensity than anything. Some kids can have it & run a brief temperature & never show other symptoms. Some have fever, localized spots on their wrists & nothing else. Some have terrible mouth sores, spots on wrists/forearms/legs feet & around the bottom & have cramping & loose stools. My 2yr old son recently started waking up screaming and sweating so bad that his pillow was soaked and hand was wrinkled also he looks disoriented?

Night terrors: This is most likely related to night terrors, a disorder of stage 4 sleep, like sleep walking. The age is right and the waking with sudden screaming. However, the soaked pillow and wrinkled hand is a bit odd. Being disoriented is an odd combination as well, though it's tough to say if it's due to waking or another reason. I'd consult his doc asap and run this by them for real medical advice. ...Read more
