How can I breathe with my scoliosis back brace?

How can I breathe with my scoliosis back brace?

Normally: You should be able to breathe normally. When you first get your brace, it may feel tight and cause you to take frequent, short breaths. Most orthotists have a schedule for wearing a brace that allows you and your body to adjust. Maybe just a short time the first day and then slowly increased time over 2-4 weeks. You should ask the person that made your brace.

Will I have to wear a huge neck/back brace due to scoliosis?

Will I have to wear a huge neck/back brace due to scoliosis?

No: If you are really 35 years old, wearing a brace would have no effect. Braces are normally used for adolescents and children with progressive curves in an effort to slow the curves progression.

Would I need a back brace if I have minor scoliosis?

Not usually: It does depend in part what you mean by minor scoliosis. But in general, we use bracing for curves between 30-45 degrees and only use them when the person still has growth left. Thank you for the question.

Do I have to wear my back brace at night? When I get my back brace for scoliosis, will I have to wear it at night, too, or just during the day? .

Do I have to wear my back brace at night? When I get my back brace for scoliosis, will I have to wear it at night, too, or just during the day? .

Depends: You may want to discuss this with your doctor. In most cases, the brace is known as a 23 hour brace meaning you wear it all times except for showering etc. There are other types of braces and in my patients with mild curves that are not likely to progress I let my ptients wear them less. Thnk you for your question.

Is a back brace always required for scoliosis? I've been told I have scoliosis, but it isn't severe. Will I need a back brace, or can mild scoliosis be treated in other ways? .

No: Back braces are primarily used in the specific situation of a person with a 30-45 degree curvature with growth remaining. They are usually not used for more mild curves and have no benefit in a person who has completed their growth. Thank you for the question.

Will a back brace limit my activities? I'm getting a back brace for scoliosis. Does this mean I won't be able to do things like sports? .

Will a back brace limit my activities? I'm getting a back brace for scoliosis. Does this mean I won't be able to do things like sports? .

No: I encourage my patients to stay active, despite having to wear a brace for scoliosis. I allow them to come out of their brace for participation in sports. In many cases, I believe bracing is important to control curves and avoid surgery, but you should still participate in the things you enjoy doing. Thank you for your question.

Random upper back spasms, difficulty breathing during spasm. Lasts anywhere from few min to hours. Have s curve scoliosis, mild on top?

Random upper back spasms, difficulty breathing during spasm. Lasts anywhere from few min to hours. Have s curve scoliosis, mild on top?

Conservative care: There may by underlying pathology, such as early disc degeneration, causing the spasms, or you may have unknowingly injured your back. A mild scoliosis is actually unlikely to cause any significant pain/problems. If symptoms persist and/or are debilitating, you need to see a physician.

A few days ago I felt a sharp pain behind the middle of my spine, then it got worse and I found it difficult to breathe or move? It hasn't got better..

See Dr: Any pain that is severe enough or persistent enough to limit usual activities...Let alone breathing...Needs evaluated asap. If cannot be seen by your dr same-day, then should go to urgent care or er for evaluation and pain control.

Can anxiety make it feel like your airways are constricted and make it difficult to breathe? Like a clicking sound at the back of throat?

Yes... possibly.: No question that anxiety/panic attacks can have an associated symptom of shortness of breath. It's often a diagnosis of exclusion. I'd want to make sure you weren't having any underlying asthma, etc causing your shortness of breath (getting pulmonary function tests) and also asses your anxiety problems before hanging my hat on your dyspnea as a panic attack. Face-to-face eval should be done.

Any back brace to correct hunched posture?

Any back brace to correct hunched posture?

Possibly`: I will sometimes use a corrective brace if there is no chance of improvement in improving posture with muscle strengthening program. It is not the best way to go in most cases as it only weakens the muscles more but will use it as a last resort.

Will wearing a back brace help with a fractured back?

Will wearing a back brace help with a fractured back?

Take it easy: Most spine fractures will heal within 3 months with bracing, limiting strenuous activity and close follow-up with a spine specialist. Some fractures require surgical stabilization and kyphoplasty is an option for elderly patients with compression fractures. Check out spine-health. Com.
