Is It Dangerous To My Health To Leave A Diseased Nail Untreated
Depends: I am not sure what you mean by diseased, but you must mean a fungal infection of the nail. I am of the belief that any infection on your body is not healthy. I may be good to see a podiatrist on this and get his opinion. Since the nail grows so slow, medications have to be taken for a long time to treat the problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it healthy to leave a dead/root canaled tooth in your mouth for life? If any other dying tissue is removed from body? Why not dead teeth?
Tooth not dead.: The tooth is not dead after a root canal. The nerve and pulp tissue within the tooth has been removed after a root canal. The hollow spaced that remains has been sealed from the rest of the body. You can still tell when you have something between your teeth because the supporting tissues of the tooth remain between the tooth and the bone. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have an ingrown toe nail, my pedicurist told me to leave it without cutting for a year or so & it will correct itself. Is that true?
Whaaaaa?: Send back to pedicurist school, nail would only be about, oh, 5' long, hope you like open-toed shoes. Do need to let it grow out, so end of nail makes it to end of toe (& can't 'dive' into skin. Then be careful to get all of nail when cut it in future & try to keep it pretty straight across for several months. If continues to be problem, may need to see your dr or a podiatrist for help with it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

How long can a urinary tract infection be left untreated before it will become dangerous? This is for a friend who won't see the doctor, and I worry.
Depends: Infection in the urinary bladder alone may not become dangerous even if left untreated. There is always a risk that infection could spread to the kidneys. If kidneys are infected, then it can become dangerous in a matter of hours or days, if there is obstruction to urine flow and the patient is diabetic. It is best to get treatment at the earliest. ...Read more

I can't get part of a bee stinger out of my foot, is it harmful to leave it there? Will it eventually work its way out?
If a deep scar is left already for a year or so, is it possible that in the distant future it will heal completely? Under which conditions?
Varying opinions: You will hear different opinions on this. If it were my toe, i would have it surgically amputated. That tissue is dead, so a secondary/emerging infection is possible and this can spread rapidly. I personally think the risk of that versus the risk of having surgery is greater. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I'm curious, how long would it take for an untreated tooth infection to finally spread to the heart and brain?
Is it proper to remove the dead, peeling skin from around a wound? Will this hurt it more or cause infection?
How long does it take for water intoxication to kick in? Is it absolute that there would be damage to your brain? Can a hospital reverse it?
I can't answer this: ...without knowing your size, your level of physical activity at the time,, the ability of your kidneys to get rid of excess water & other variables. U could have irreversible brain damage if U develop a seizure or go into a coma. Why take the chance? Sports drinks can help prevent the low sodium level that's associate with H2O intoxication. Why risk it?? ...Read more
