No starvation : Simple sugars and processed carbs should be avoided or limited. This includes any flour product. The fine grind makes absorption quick, and spikes your blood sugar which increases Insulin and promotes weight gain. Good fats such as olive oil and coconut oil are fine in sensible amounts. Balance & moderation: You may be withholding too many calories or your meals may be too heavy on carbs. Better to graze and balance-have 3 meals and 2 snacks during the day. Balance meals to contain lean protein with low glycemic carbs and a bit of monounsat. Fat (olive oil, etc). Educate yourself on "good" and "bad" carbs and fats. Consider reading "a week in the zone". See below: Most diets are like holdng your breath. Eventually you have to breath. If you deprive yourself by dieting, binging often follows. Better to reduce your portion size of most of your foods (except non starchy veggies) and allow yourself small portions of the foods that you crave perhaps once or twice a week.
