Serum cortisol level 13pg/ml at 9am after barely 2 hours of sleep at night are these results normal?

Serum cortisol level 13pg/ml at 9am after barely 2 hours of sleep at night are these results normal?

Looks fine: It is difficult to say how your getting only 2 hours of sleep would affect a 9 am cortisol but a value of 13 mcg/dl (usual units for this test) is well within the normal range of 5-20 and should reassure you and your doctor that you do not have adrenal insufficiency if that is the reason the test was ordered. ...Read more

My morning cortisol was 40 (6-19.4).I do have a pituitary tumor, but my dexmethasone and 4 pm serum tests were normal. Can this rule out Cushings?

Not by itself: It depends on the assay used and what symptoms you have. We wouldn't diagnose a hypercortisol state based on a lab value alone. If you have sign of cushing's and your early morning cortisol levels are elevated it could be Cushing's. ...Read more

I'm 20 my serum testosterone is 344ngm/dl and free testosterone is 16.7ngm Lh=2.36mlU/ml is that normal for my age and i dont have morning wood?

I'm 20 my serum testosterone is 344ngm/dl and free testosterone is 16.7ngm Lh=2.36mlU/ml is that normal for my age and i dont have morning wood?

Serum T: The normal range varies a bit with every lab, but that value appears to be fairly normal. Also, what time of day was it drawn? Testosterone is circadian, higher in the AM, lower later in the day. If that value was later in the day, then the AM value is likely higher. ...Read more

Repeat lab: Your lab is normal, but mildly low for age. Make sure it was drawn in the morning, draw a second value for confirmation including measurement of free testosterone lh and prolactin. Then talk w/your doctor. There are many more common causes for ed than low testosterone unless you've being taking anabolics. ...Read more

My serum uric acid level 7.1mg/dl. I have uneasyness in index fingers. Doctor says it is gout. Can this b cured with strict veg diet and morning walk

Skeptical.: Your ua level is elevated, but your symptoms are not entirely suggestive of gout. Anyway, it is reasonable to pursue a gout diet. Avoid: red meat and seafood beer and hard liquor foods / drinks with high-fructose corn syrup instead eat: low-fat dairy products, whole grains and vegetables. ...Read more

Daughter diagnosed with Celiac Disease 8 weeks ago. Now has severe itching on lower legs only at night time. Low white blood count and high Globulin Serum levels. Severe weight loss, and bruising What could cause this?

Itching Issues

There is a very: characteristic skin rash that accompanies celiac disease: dermatitis herpetiformis. Typically this is a skin manifestation of non-celiac wheat sensitivity. Extremely itchy bumps or blisters appear, especially on the forearms. The lab abnormalities you describe are not typical for celiac; in fact serum globulins may be low. I suspect more than one diagnosis; continue working closely with her Doctor ...Read more

Should i layer on my glycolic acid face moisturizer or should I just use it for night time? Can you layer vitamin C serum whith a retinol serum?Tyvm

Should i layer on my glycolic acid face moisturizer or should I just use it for night time? Can you layer vitamin C serum whith a retinol serum?Tyvm

I don't think: it matters if you use the glycolic acid in the morning or night application, but most would advise you use your retinol/Retin-A the opposite time of day. Many find the glycolic acid too drying/peeling for use during day (peeling looking skin). I recommend avoiding vitamin C serum at the same time as retinol; consider using the vitamin C every 2-3 days in place of glycolic acid. Good wishes:) ...Read more

Yes: Mri is fine but be prepared for normal results. An elevated sed rate and ANA may indicate an inflammatory process in the body. A thorough work up would include hormone evaluation, sleep patterns, infection/immune system testing as well as nutrition review. These presentations can be frustrating so find a doctor that will take the time to listen and evaluate. ...Read more
