Please recommend if it's better to run a short distance fast, or a longer distance slowly for cardio workout?

Out of shape: If u haven't been active recently w/ daily exercise it may take some time ( couple of weeks) for your aerobic capacity to improve to the point where it becomes more"easy" for you.
