Is It Better For My Baby To Drink Whole Milk Or Formula
Formula, but costs $: A 1 year old baby can switch off of formula and start whole cow milk. Formula is somewhat more nutritious but is much more expensive. A baby who is a picky eater and eats little solid food, or has almost no variety in his choice of solid foods, will probably not get enough iron and vitamins from his diet. Such a baby may be better off drinking infant formula until 18 months of age. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My baby is 11 months..When can she start to drink normal milk?I mean whole milk, no more formulas...Thanks
At 12 months, when : You can wean to a doubled-handled, open-mouthed cup. Limit milk & milk products to 16-21 oz./day to avoid constipation & iron-deficiency anemia. If you give juice (not recommended) limit it to 4-6 oz./day. Since the same muscles used for eating & drinking are used for talking, use a "commuter cup" if you feel you need a lidded one. Sippy cups keep the tongue forward in an immature sucking position. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My daughter turns one today. How should we transition her from formula? What type of milk should she drink? Whole milk?
Whatever suits you: The average kid will easily switch from one to another when offered. Some are put off by the change in flavor & some parents to a half & half for a while until they can go to full strength. Whole milk is preferred until 2, when brain growth slows & a reduction to a low fat or skim will not deprive the brain of needed building blocks ( the brain uses cholesterol as insulation for nerve wiring). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My daughter just turned one year old should I stop the formula and shift to regular whole milk? And how much milk should she be drinking per day(ml)?
Milk: It is recommended to switch to whole milk at one year. The recommended amount is 2 cups a day (to provide adequate vitamin d) but not much more. When kids are "milkaholics" they actually can become iron deficient. I'd shoot for 2 cups (16oz) per day and stop there. (in a cup - get rid of the bottles too.). ...Read more

No cow's milk: It is contraindicated to feed your infant cow's milk. All of the nutrients, proteins, fats, etc, are naturally perfect for a baby cow. A human infant should only be fed human breast milk, or human infant formula. These are formulated/created by nature, to fully nourish your infant optimally. At age 1, talk with your pediatrician about possibly changing to cow's milk. Be well! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My 3month old baby is on soy base formula now, will it effect her when she gets older and have to drink regular milk? Will she have problems digisting
Usually not: It is very common for an infant to be sensitive to lactose or milk protein in infancy. Very, very few, however, continue to have this problem past 6 months. As their digestive system matures, the vast majority of infants who were sensitive as newborns and young infants tolerate dairy products and do just fine with regular milk by their first birthday. ...Read more
