Is Irregular Heartbeat And Palpitations Hereditary
Hereditary: Yes and no;there are many cardiac conditions with a genetic component which include rhythm disturbances, there are also heritable disorders of cardiac electrophysiology;in any given case thus the specifics matter with respect to heritability factors
Palpitations are an awareness of extra heartbeats which most of us have. The sensation can be single or multiple and can sometimes last minutes. Different people may feel other symptoms along with them such as dizzy, lightheaded or short of breath. The palpitations are almost always atrial or ventricular premature beats. Usually benign but they are also ...Read more
Usually, none.: Irregular heartbeats usually only affect, well, the heart. It is a very rare rhythm disorder that is fast enough, and sustained for a long enough time, that one develops a profound drop in blood pressure. Only in these cases do you have compromise of other body parts (e.g. Fainting from brain hypoperfusion, or kidney dysfunction from low output).See 1 more doctor answer
Can anxiety cause palpitations? Almost a feeling like I have an irregular heartbeat which causes more worry, which cause more palpitations? A cycle
Yes: It is common to have heart related symptoms occur with anxiety.
I've had irregular heartbeat/palpitations for years but this feels different. Brief episodes of intense rhythmic pain in my heart. What could this be?
Need a monitor: Your symptoms are most likely related to an irregularity in the heart (cardiac) rhythm. The kind of symptom complex you describe may be associated with a benign cardiac rhythm disturbance, like single premature beats, but it may also be associated with a more significant arrhythmia. A 24 hour cardiac monitor would be helpful in determining the cause of your spells.

Is Long QT condition inherited or can be acquired? I've had 2 times in the past episodes of very fast, irregular heartbeat. Tests ok, no holter test.
NothingOnTheQ-THere: Yes, it can be inherited and yes, it can be acquired (several medications can do it). I'm assuming that one of the "tests" you had was an EKG (test of the heart's electrical conduction system; they attach you to a bunch of wires and the result looks like a bunch of squiggly lines on graph paper). The EKG would tell you if the Q-T is too long. The Holter would be a good idea too, whatever the Q-T.
Irreg heart beat: Hello ~ yes you should be concerned but not worried. The vast majority of irreg heart beats are benign atrial ectopic beats but some can be of more concern. Please visit your doc and have a resting and stress ECG and then a HOLTER test is necessary. This will identify the nature of the irregularity, and treatment if necessary. Thanks
Power plate: Should be little problem with using the power plate with most irregular heartbeats. To be sure more information needed.
Atrial fibrillation: Irregilarly irregular heart rhythms tend to imply atrial fibrillation, which shoud be evaluated by a cardiologist. These can occur in the context of valvular leaking (regurgitation). Other causes include thyroid problems, alcohol or stimulant exposure, cardiac enlargement, sleep apnea, extreme physiologic stress.
Unrelated: Those symptoms are not likely to be related in any way. You have 2 separate issues. The cornerstone of treatment is an accurate diagnosis. You need both symptoms evaluated.
I have an irregular heartbeat will that cause complications when they remove my gallbladder since I have stones?
Low risk surgery: Irregular heart rhythm does not increase the risk of surgery as long as you do not have heart failure. If you are on a blood thinner it will need to be suspended for 5 days. Gall bladder surgery done by laparoscopy is a low risk surgery and is generally safe even for people with more significant heart disease than you. Good luck with surgery!
I find that cumin helps me when I have an irregular heartbeat. (i mix two full teaspoons in hot water) is there any evidence for it?
I feel as though I have an irregular heartbeat. I've had 3 ekgs in past few months--they were irregular yet the doctors aren't concerned. Advice?
Had mild anorexia for about a year (aged 22 at the time). Could I have caused irregular heartbeat? Or do issues resolve when you start eating proper?
No: No direct correlation, I would focus more on your overall health now
