Is Ir Bad When My Baby Dosent Burp After Every Feeding She Rarely Burps
Nope: Babies need to burp after feeds because they tend to swallow air with feeding. Some babies do not swallow a lot of air and do not burp. You can put the baby on her tummy for 10-15 minutes at a 45 degree incline after feeds if you are concerned and see if that helps her . If she is not fussy or gassy, there really is not a problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My sister's infant having breath problems after feeding. Not frequently but i think it has to do with burping and nasal cleansing?
My infant is 1week 3daya old not having reg. Bowl movements and isn't burping after feeding i've given him gripe water&still no help what meds to giv?
Define & use natural: If breast fed, stooling less often& skipping days i would leave it alone if still soft. Bf infants can stool a little every feed or a crib full once a week.Bottle fed kids are expected to go daily. I've had success with undiluted prune or apple juice, 1oz once or twice daily.Water may also help ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
We have a month old infant who is gassy. We do our best to aggresively make him burp but within an hour after feed, he gets up crying from gas pain. Are there any other remedies?
Some possibilities: Babies swallow air- when they eat, suck or cry. During feedings, try to burp him in between every ounce, or between nursing on each side. Hold him upright (on your shoulder) for 15-20 minutes after feedings to help allow the air to rise up and escape, and not get trapped under the milk. Try a lactose free formula. Try simethicone (gas drops for infants). Check with your doctor if this continues. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
My 7week old infant has reflux and is on meds but is still having bad reflux. Besides keeping her upright and burped well. What can I do?
No pain & is happy?: If a young, refluxing baby is already on meds, getting burped, being held upright (with nothing pressing on the tummy), the question becomes: is there good growth and no pain? If the baby is happily growing despite spitting every feeding, it's ok to keep watching along with the pediatrician. Sometimes one can try switching to small, frequent bottle feedings to regulate the intake per feeding. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Swallowing air: All humans burp. Its a fact of life. We swallow air along with our food and when we swallow a lot, some of it may come back out in the form of a burp. You only notice in a baby because they arent good at it and so it stands out more dramatically than in older kids. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Head up: Tummy gas needs a chance to come up and be vented. Gravity will hold the feed down and with the head upright, it is only a matter of time. Baby will swallow a bit of spit now & then , unfolding the stomach entrance & allowing air to vent if properly positioned. I like to hold baby up on my forearm facing out, cradeling his/her chest with my hand, head up. A pat on the back is not always needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I've been feeding my 7w baby 3 oz every 3-4 hours since she was 4w. Dr hasn't approved increased amount but she is always fussy even after burping. ?
Follow her lead...: Your baby is going to increase the amts of feedings more often then every two months when you see your pediatrician. You don't need approval to increase feedings - If she is still acting hungry and wanting to eat at the end of 3 oz, offer another. If she doesn't want it,she will let you know. "Fussy" at 7 weeks is common - if increased feedings don't help, discuss with her pediatrician at 2mo PE ...Read more
My 9 week old baby is throwing up after every burp now for one week is it normal , she is breast feeding and on formula?
Throwing up/vomiting: One of the common causes of vomiting/throwing up is over feeding. Try to discontinue formula or reduce the amount. If still persistent, consider acid reflux and or pyloric stenoisis. Have your pediatrician rule those out. If she's a girl. Also consider urinary tract infection. ...Read more
Good question!: Although you think this is a simple question, it's more controversial than you think. Some pediatric gastroenterologists think burping is a waste of time, but i always like burping, and it gives both the burper and the burpee a sense of satisfaction. My favorite technique: over the shoulder with gentle patting of the back. The nursery favorite: sitting baby in her lap with gentle back rubbing. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
