Is ir bad when my baby dosent burp after every feeding? She rarely burps?

Is ir bad when my baby dosent burp after every feeding? She rarely burps?

Nope: Babies need to burp after feeds because they tend to swallow air with feeding. Some babies do not swallow a lot of air and do not burp. You can put the baby on her tummy for 10-15 minutes at a 45 degree incline after feeds if you are concerned and see if that helps her . If she is not fussy or gassy, there really is not a problem. ...Read more

GERD: Frequent spitting-up in young infants are most often caused by gastroesophageal reflux (GER). Spitting-ups can be reduced by feeding a thickened formula, adding 1 tablespoon of rice cereal per ounce of formula on every feeding. Consult with your son's pediatrician for further details and other standard treatment for GERD including antacid. ...Read more

My baby doesn't burp sometimes after breastfeeding, he is 1 week old, is it normal?

My baby doesn't burp sometimes after breastfeeding, he is 1 week old, is it normal?

Absolutely!: Not every baby burps every feeding. Burping is typically prompted by swallowing air during the feed. Perhaps you have positioned your baby at the breast such that there is little to no air being swallowed with your milk. Perhaps I should hire you in my pediatric office to instruct other mothers how to properly breast feed! (although, from alaska to texas would be a long commute!). ...Read more

Yes it can: And most babies have reflux, they outgrow it as get bigger, you had the answer in your question: burp your baby well after feeding, if wet burps are a problem, try reflux precautions: thickening feeds, feeding smaller amounts more frequently, raising the bed 30 degrees, feeding the baby at 45 degree angle, etc, enjoy your baby ...Read more

My daughter is 6 months old and she keeps spitting up her formula after she drinks it, mostly 1-2 hours after. It comes up like spit up but smells like vomit?

She may be having: something called gastroesophageal reflux, which occurs when the valve between the stomach and the esophagus is a little floppy and allows some formula to come back up.Most babies outgrow this eventually and if she is thriving would not need treatment. If the formula is new to her, it could be a formula intolerance. You should discuss this further with her own pediatrician and have her examined there. ...Read more

My 2 month old baby sometimes cries after feedings when he is well fed as if he wants more but when I give move he spits up??

Reading signals: It is easy to assume a baby is hungry if they are willing to take more. However, babies suck often to self sooth and this can be when they are full. Babies are even born with sucking blisters on their hands showing they did so while getting fed through the placenta. Many babies are just tired and suck to self settle. Their crying is often fatigue and not understanding if they sleep it goes away. ...Read more

Spitting up: IS she gaining weight?? Does she seem to be uncomfortable when she is spitting up? If yes then she may be having reflux, which is common in newborn babies. You may discuss about medication options with you regular doctor, usually it gets better once the child is 4-6 months. Overfeeding results in spitting up as well. My 2week old baby is projectile spitting up every time he is fed even with sensitive formula. He isn't fussy. No gas. What could be going on?

Projectile vomiting: Without more details like: is he making the normal number of wet diapers? How is his weight? How much and how often are you feeding him? It is difficult to know for sure. One thing is for certain he needs an evaluation - at 2 weeks of age he's at incredibly high risk to become dehydrated very quickly. The cause needs to be investigated and quickly. Call your pediatrician on-call now. ...Read more

My 4 week baby breath so hard when she drinks milk , it all happens while she is drinking during sleep?

My 4 week baby breath so hard when she drinks milk , it all happens while she is drinking during sleep?

Confusing question: Babies depend on their open nasal passages to breathe normally. If baby must stop feeding to do some breathing or seems to work harder to breathe during feedings, she needs her nose cleaned of any mucous or irritant debris. Dust, smoke & fragrances, make it hard for babies & saline nose rinse is your best rx. I don't know of any babies that drink during sleep, but many sound bad if congested. ...Read more
