Not necessarily: If you develop red, deep indentations, see an eye doctor. You may need different frames. Although indentations caused by glasses are usually not permanent, they can lead to permanent dark spots in the area, especially in darker-pigmented individuals.

I have indentations on the back of my head right above my ears. When ever they appear I have a massive headache. Not due to glasses as they are new.

Sounds like: Your headaches are consistent with a spasm in the temporalis muscles. The back edge (posterior border) of the muscle is approximately where you describe. I a tense contracted state or spasm it will puff up and protrude hence the bump. Do you happen to clench or grind your teeth? Consult with a dentist who can make appropriate diagnosis and treatment recommendations or referral.
