Can I take coq10 as a supplement for good health. I am a hypothyroid patient, TSH 7.76. Taking thyronorm 50 mg, if yes then what strength?
Yes, 50-100 mg:
It's perfectly safe to take coq10. Take ubiquinol, the active form, which is better absorbed than the ubiquinone form. Try 50-100mg with food early in the day.
Your TSH indicates you'd most likely feel better taking more thyroid. Most hypothyroid patients feel better with adding liothyronine. Ask your doctor to test your free t3. Increase dose until your free T3 is in upper half of the normal range. ...Read more

Thyroidologist: I recommend that you have a thorough evaluation of your thyroid status by a thyroidologist or endocrinologist. Hypothyroidism is much less common in males than females. In view of your atypical symptoms and somewhat equivocal thyroid hormone levels, a thyroid specialist is best to evaluate, treat and follow you. ...Read more
Both: You lose weight based on how many calories your burn relative to how many you consume. The longer you exercise, and the more vigorous the exercise, the more you burn. Generally speaking, zumba tends to be associated with more aerobic activity than yoga, but it all depends on how you do them. ...Read more
What's your question:
I'm not sure how to help since you have not asked a question!
but I can give general advice- many doctors treat hypothyroidism inadequately. Ask your doctor to check free t3. If not in the upper half of the normal range then liothyronine should be added to thyroxine, or change to armour or naturethroid. See http://www. Stopthethyroidmadness. Com/ for more info &/or http://www. Thyroidbook. Com/. ...Read more

Unknown: As is the case for most of these unproven supplements, there are no real studies that demonstrate that they do anything beneficial (despite what you may hear from dr. Oz), and no studies looking at drug interactions. Many people say that it is "natural" since it comes from a plant. Remember that many poisons come from plants as well. ...Read more

Recentaly I came to know that my 6 yrs old son have unilateral snhl. He is a patient of hypothyroid. 1st time when he travelled in aircraft complained?
Unrelated: Sensory neural hearing loss has many possible origins including viral infection, trauma and genetic factors. I can't link it to air travel or thyroid status. It may have been present from birth, if the other ear maintained his developmental progress. If he complained during flight it was likely just temporary pressure imbalance, not a cause for permanent hearing loss. ...Read more
I am 34 yr hypothyroid patient. My wife 30 yr type 2 DM. Is there any issue while planning our 2nd child? Our first child 5 yr old.
Consult doctor: Your wife diabetes should be well controlled during pregnancy, so that you can have healthy normal baby, Baby born to a diabetic mother may be big in size, may have low sugar or breathing problem but these are temporary and treatable. Your hypothyroid should not affect the baby. You can plan to have another baby. Good luck. Talk to your doctor. ...Read more
What are the chances for patient below 30 y.O & euthyroid to be hypothyroid after hemthyroidectomy? Will the other lobe be enlarged after?
Possibility: It is certainly a possibility, and many would begin thyroid replacement immediately after surgery to prevent enlargement of the remaining lobe and the future formation of nodules (which I assume is why you had the surgery in the first place). If your whole thyroid can't work well enough to avoid problems, what makes you think that half of it can do better? Talk w/your endocrinologist. ...Read more
I am a hypothyroidism patient. My nails r vry thin they break out vry oftenly. Why does this happen what should I eat in my diet and what preactions sh?
What is the normal protocol for a patient that is subclinical hypothyroid? I have all normal test results, but all the symptoms and family history.
Test RT3: I bet you did not get reverse T3 tested. This is critical in making the diagnosis for functional hypothyroidism. Check free T3 and reverse t3. Ft3 should be in upper range and rt3 in lower range. If your ratio is off, you may need Armour Thyroid or t3, and synthroid (thyroxine) would be the wrong med for you. Make sure thyroid antibodies were tested too. ...Read more

Because of aging: Part of normal aging is a decrease in renal function, the organs that filter out and excrete the harmful products in the body. There is also a higher fat/muscle ratio to the muscles. This and a number of other changes requires a lower dose of any drug, especially digitalis, to be effective and non-toxic. In general, dose limit is 0.125 mg. Hypothyroid won't affect if it is corrected by thyroid med. ...Read more
What is the typical dosage for a new patient with hypothyroidism going on Synthroid or levothyroxine?
Since you were just diagnosed, you should work closely with your doctor to find the proper dose of levothyroxine. The dose is based on the level of your thyroid function tests. And it is calculated based on your weight. So the range of the dosage is listed as from 50 mcg to 200mcg a day.
So you see that it is not possible to answer your question as precisely as you may wish.

Any feedback regarding juice plus on hypothyroid patients? Not looking to cure but to feel better without leaving my medication.
OK but can do better: I like that juice plus is a concentrate of healthy fruits ; veggies but several of its ingredients are on the ewg's dirty dozen list of most pesticide-laden produce ; there is no indication juice plus is organic. You'd be far better off choosing a product like orac energy greens which is entirely organic or wildcrafted; one serving has the antioxidant power of 24 servings of fruits ; vegetables. ...Read more
