Can take a while: Mono is caused by 2 viruses (epstein-barr more often, cytomegalovirus-less common). Same presentation and clinical course. Mono: typically, the liver numbers would be normalized four months after a bout of infectious mononucleosis. If they are still elevated, and particularly if they have not improved, one must consider whether there are other potential liver abnormalities present.
