How long do you have to wear the support underwear after hernia surgery? And is it ok I take it off for a day?
Unique question: This is not a normal situation for those of us who work in american medicine. Most hernia surgeries are done laparoscopically and there is little to no post operative pain or problems. I would bet, however, that your surgeon gave you post op instructions that should answer your question. If they did not this is a question to direct to your surgeon. ...Read more

My umbilical hernia surgery hurts when I bend my core to the right. It's been a year since surgery. Only happens the day after I workout. Recurrence?
Possible, but.. ..:
It's possible that you tore something that could lead to a recurrence but if there is no bulge or obvious hernia sticking out than you are probably ok. Bruising and muscle strain can feel the same way. And 'tightness' can be confused with pain. Tightness is normal, pain is not.
Try generic ibuprofen for a week or so and see if it improves. If not improving or if worse, see your surgeon ...Read more

My 7 week old has severe gas. He just had hernia surgery, and I'm afraid hrs will have another. He grunts all day and night. Any suggestions?
Mylecon: Any gassy infant may benefit from some mylecon drops, available over the counter. They are basically a soapy material that helps the gas come together & form a bigger pocket that can move along faster. The medication stays in the intestines so side effects are essentially non existent. 7wk old babies grunt & squeak & make all sorts of other noises all the time & it doesn't mean anything bad. ...Read more
