My 3 month old has had pneumonia and bronchiolitis all in past month. She cont to have upper resp symptoms and low grade temps. What else could it be?

See below: Bronchiolitis and pneumonia can go together and symptoms can persist for weeks but should be slowly improving. If she is worsening or the fevers are increasing then she needs to be seen by the pediatrician as another process could be occurring. I am a 66 yr old female. My red blood count was 3.72, and said "low". I just had pneumonia. What can I do to help the count?

Anemia: You can develop a very mild anemia during an acute infection. Have your testing repeated in a month, and in addition to the rbc count, have your doctor comment on the hemoglobin, hematocrit and rbc indices and the reticulocyte count. Do not try to work this out yourself. That is why your doctor went to school so many years. Good luck. ...Read more

Why is the flu shot advertised for all age-groups so aggressively when the chance of dying from the flu itself (not pneumonia) is astronomically low?

Why is the flu shot advertised for all age-groups so aggressively when the chance of dying from the flu itself (not pneumonia) is astronomically low?

Several reasons: The people most at risk to die from influenza and its complications are usually the very young and the elderly. Both of these groups may not have a full immune response from the vaccine due to their age, so "herd immunity" is important in protecting them. For additional information here is a helpful link. My 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia on Sunday she was given Cefdinir, is it normal that she has an low fever on and off?

My 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia on Sunday she was given Cefdinir, is it normal that she has an low fever on and off?

Improving?: Antibiotics given for pneumonia can take a few days to weeks to completely cure. An oral temperature of greater than 100.4F is a fever, and if this continues for days, she will need to see a pediatrician to see if her antibiotics need to be switched. However, if her overall condition seems to be improving, I would take this as a positive sign that she is on the correct medication. ...Read more

Pneumonia: White blood cell counts and differentials are not conducive to establishing a diagnosis, but can be helpful in adding or subtracting to clinical findings. Without knowing what symptoms you are having and without being able to examine you the advice must be limited. You might want to see an infectious disease doctor.
