3 days after sex I got small itchy bumps and few blisters on my arms, thighs, legs, hand and feet (not on my genitals or mouth), could this be herpes?

Herpes simplex: That is certainly possible, but without seeing the rash it would be foolish to try and diagnose it. It may not have had anything to do with the sex and you may have chicken pox or some other illness, or this may be a contact dermatitis.

Hand washing: Hand foot and mouth is spread by coughing, sneezing and saliva. The best way to prevent spread to others is to wash hands frequently and avoid contact with sick persons. Toys, contaminated with saliva need to be cleaned. Children with fever and mouth sores should be excluded from daycare. 24 hours after the fever is gone it is reasonable to allow the child back into daycare.

My grandson has hand, foot and mouth disease as of yesterday, should I go to visit?

My grandson has hand, foot and mouth disease as of yesterday, should I go to visit?

It is a virus: Hand foot and mouth is a virus and resolves on its own. Go for a visit if he has fever that is getting worse or is miserable. Sometimes a child can get a secondary problem like an ear infection. If he is eating well and doing ok you can watch him at home. There is a homeopathic remedy that works well for me in hand-foot- mouth. It is pulsatilla.

If I have contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease, should I still breastfeed my baby?

If I have contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease, should I still breastfeed my baby?

Probably: This is from a virus termed cocksackie. By the time you have the rashes from it, you have already exposed your family and baby. There is no reason to assume that breast feeding by that time will be an additional risk. And the disease in all but newborns is unpleasant but not dangerous.

My 2 young children have hand foot and mouth disease. Is it harmful to me if I am 7.5 months pregnant?

My 2 young children have hand foot and mouth disease. Is it harmful to me if I am 7.5 months pregnant?

Should be fine: 95% of kids by age 3 have had this and as high as 99% by the time you get to kindergarten. What that boils down to is you almost 100% have had this and are immune, having antibodies that protect both you and the unborn baby. You have a better chance winning the lottery than coming down with the illness, so don't worry!

Just informed my nephew has hand, foot, and mouth disease. My 12 month old and 4 year old were exposed but are acting fine. Will they get it to?

Maybe: Maybe not. There are no rules here. People are exposed to all kinds of viruses but never develop symptoms. Just don't be surprised if they do. Treatment is supportive, tylenol/ibuprofen for fever, push fluids, (popsicles are good here). Stay out of school or daycare until fever gone and no new lesions. Wash hands frequently and well! Good luck.
