I have c diff for 11 days. On metronidazole for 8. Have only drank Gatorade. Dehydration. Can I drink water instead of IV?

Dehydration: Staying hydrated Is very important while dealing with diarrhea & C. Diff. Some water as well as liquids with electrolytes are needed. If you don't like Gatorade, an even better liquid for dealing with diarrhea is pedialyte (not as much sugar). Make sure to have frequent follow up with your doctor. What are symptoms of mild to moderate dehydration? I realized today i've barely had any water or liquids over the last few days and am experiencing heart palps, s& fatigue. Should i get gatorade?

Could be dehydration: Dehydration - dry mouth, eyes, skin gets dry and when you squeeze the skin on the back of your hand it may stay tented up when you let go. It can cause rapid heartbeats, dizziness and feeling faint. Normally i would say drink 1-2 bottles of gatorade or similar and see if this helps - you should check your temperature and see if you have other symptoms. ...Read more

My babies refusing the water am worry from the dehydration (10 months ) they took just 500 cc milk daily what can I do?

Confusing question: Your question is not clear. As long as your babies are making a pee diaper every 6 hours they should not have a problem with dehydration. Many infants find water distasteful and refuse it. Alternate fluid sources like apple sauce (95% water) or vegetables (60%) can interest an infant and provide fluid value. ...Read more

My infant is showing signs of dehydration. When do I call the doctor? My baby has been ill and is having fewer wet diapers than normal. I’ve tried to give her pedialyte, but she isn’t taking much of it. At what point do I need to call her pediatrician?

My infant is showing signs of dehydration. When do I call the doctor? My baby has been ill and is having fewer wet diapers than normal. I’ve tried to give her pedialyte, but she isn’t taking much of it. At what point do I need to call her pediatrician?

Call Dr. now: Signs of dehydration include fewer wet diapers, tears and saliva that is thicker than usual. Infants may become dehydrated in just a few hours. It sounds like you've done the basics-it's time to discuss the details with your doctor. It will be much easier to treat the problem early. Good luck. ...Read more

My dr told me im dehydrated and need gatorade vs water.I already drink lots of water. I don't like all the sugar. How do I rehydrate without the sugar?

Need more info: Everything depends on what you mean by "lots of water". Did the doctor do nay blood tests? Normal water intake daily should be about 70 ounces of water daily unless you like in a very warm climate where you may need more water intake. If your water intake meets those requirements then please consult with a nephrologist, a doctor who deals with the chemistry of the kidney. ...Read more

Okay I donate plasma at the plasma center they say my veins are really small so I have to drink a lot of water and I am not a water fan and can't drink a lot of water im always dehydrated what else could it mean? But I drink gatorade

Hydration, heat: Proper hydration gives you the best chance to have your veins full, ready for venipuncture. Drinking fluids which do not have caffeine helps, and applying heat to your arms for several minutes may help to dilate the veins. A bean bag placed in the microwave for several minutes will be warm enough for this. ...Read more

I've been dehydrated, increased urination, and feel way too hot since starting beta blockers. Can't retain any fluids, and will get faint if not guzzling water/Gatorade. What does this sound like?

I've been dehydrated, increased urination, and feel way too hot since starting beta blockers. Can't retain any fluids, and will get faint if not guzzling water/Gatorade. What does this sound like?

Talk to your doctor: Theoretically speaking, beta blockers, by inhibiting sympathetic functions, could cause unopposed parasympathetic functions. Talk to your doctor about a trial of stopping it a few days to see if symptoms resolve. However, maybe you have another problem unrelated to beta blocker. Have you been checked for diabetes? ...Read more

My pap came back unormal i went back to the dr cause i fell sick light headed felling like i can pass out the dr said im dehydrated since then i been drink water and gatorade and no change the same im still dehydrated my body just not accepting the flu

First, : First, your abnormal pap smear wouldn't have anything to do with your dizziness. Your doctor should talk with you about what comes next to deal with this issue. Now, your dizziness could be caused by any number of problems. One way to tell if you're really dehydrated is to check the color of your urine. If you're emptying your bladder several times a day and your urine is pale yellow in color (not dark), you're not dehydrated, and some other explanation for your dizziness must be sought. Anxiety, viral illnesses, anemia, medications or recreational drugs, heart problems, metabolic disorders, and an array of other conditions can cause faintness. If your symptoms don't resolve soon, return to your doctor for reevaluation. Good luck! ...Read more

I am constantly dehydrated. Gatoraid doesn't help. My sugar is high, my dr refered me to a diabetes dr, but i don't see them till feb. ?

Water is best: Diabetes can cause dry mouth, especially when the sugar is high. Gatorade has sugar in it, so it is not a good choice for you. In fact, it is probably pushing your sugar higher, which, as i said, makes for a drier mouth. Rehydrate with water, avoid concentrated sugars of all types. Remember, there is a lot of sugar in fruit juice and soda, too. ...Read more

What couses dehydration on infants? My baby keeps getting dehydrated

What couses dehydration on infants? My baby keeps getting dehydrated

Inadequate fluid: Infant dehydration occurs when fluid losses are greater than fluid intake. Fluid losses occur from bowel movements, which tend to be more liquid in infants; from skin, either by visible perspiration or invisible losses of water through skin pores, especially from heat; from vomiting or regurgitation; and then from any urine the baby passes. Fluid intake must at least match all these losses. ...Read more
