What types of food can relief gas in preschoolers quickly. Are dates soaked in water good for this.

Local answers: Intestinal gas in young children can be very uncomfortable. Often a gentle massage of the abdomen, going counter clockwise, can help relieve pockets of gas. Continued pain or swelling or vomiting should be seen by a practitioner. Foods vary with locale; cabbage family and beans are very gasogenic. Often crushed flax seed with rice can be helpful. Why can't I pass gas or go to the bathroom? I drunk a lot of water today and nothing, what's going on with my body.

Why can't I pass gas or go to the bathroom? I drunk a lot of water today and nothing, what's going on with my body.

It depends on what you were doing.: Your physical activity as well as the environment largely dictates how much fluid you need. Here in Arizona where the temperature in the summertime is often over 110°F you need substantially more fluid than you would in a place like Seattle. So if you are working outside or doing manual labor outside you're going to lose substantially more fluids. In order to urinate in a larger quantity you're going to need to drink more fluid. It just depends on the environment and your activity ...Read more

Marcus is 4weeks old, colic and extremely gassy. What are your thoughts in giving agripe water or gas drops? What's the difference n side affects? .

Colic: Neither grippe water (as long as it doesn't contain alcohol) nor infant gas drops have real side effects. Gas drops can give a little bit of loose stool in some babies. I like to give the gas drops 0.3 ml before each feed, they are my preference. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Lost Your Marbles?: It may be you're swallowing a lot of air with the water. Try using a straw and see if that works. If not then maybe you are sensitive to certain foods: dairy, or crucifers, or legumes, or gluten, or wallpaper glue, or marbles. Look up each of these (except the last two) and see if there is a pattern in your eating, then eliminate those foods. Also look up 'Beano' and 'Lactaid' for beans or dairy. ...Read more

Is gripe water (gas relief drops) safe to give to a 2 1/2 week old infant?

They don't work.: Babies swallow air when crying & bottle-feeding. Till ~ 6 weeks, their intestinal smooth muscle does not coordinate propulsion of liquid & air. Use the "football hold". Put baby on your forearm, head at your elbow, face down. Press your palm against his tummy, flex his hips, encircle one leg with your fingers & roll him gently against your chest. Tilt head up to burp, tush up to pass gas. ...Read more
