Mixed question: Gardasil can reduce your risk of some strains of HPV that can trigger cervical cancer, if you have the shots before you are exposed.Chlamydia has no direct effect on cancer risk, but the germ likes to live in/destroy the sensitive linings of your Fallopian tubes, which can render you unable to have a normal pregnancy. ...Read more

Yes: The currently recommended antibiotic for chlamydia is almost always successful (99%). Usually if it doesn't work, it just wasn't taken. If it was taken and the infection is still present after a couple weeks, it is a reinfection and not a treatment failure. It is imperative for all partners to be treated to prevent reinfection. ...Read more

3 days only: PEP for HIV should be given within 3 days ( https://www.aids.gov/hiv-aids-basics/prevention/reduce-your-risk/post-exposure-prophylaxis/ ). Sounds like you should be tested for at least GC, syphilis, and HIV, maybe Hep C and HSV I and II. Often available through local health department clinic at little or no direct cost. ...Read more

Not very effective.: Quinolones, like ciprofloxacin, are not first line treatments for chlamydia. The effectiveness of Cipro in particular is questionable. Other quinolones are more effective, but require a full week of therapy and are more costly than the preferred agents, Doxycycline or azithromycin. Repeat dose needed: Chlamydia in pregnancy is very very serious, it can worsen into pelvic inflammatory disease which can be associated with miscarriage and preterm delivery. You need a full treatment , with a test of cure three weeks later. Given the high risk of infection and the low risk of taking extra antibiotics, i would ask your doctor for a refill now. Try anti nausea meds before antibiotics. ...Read more

How effective currenly is 2 weeks of doxycline for chlamydia/gonorhea? My infec disease doctor gave me for that suspected.
Ask your doctor...: Although empirical treatment is convenient & reasonable, it is still uncertain because clinical symptoms and diagnosis are not sure, and the care for partners are not unclear. Generally, for gono/chlamydia, 250 mg Rocephin (ceftriaxone) for gono and 1 gm of azithromycin for chlamydia will suffice for most of cases. More?
