What side effects?: Flecainide is a very potent medication and can cause some side effects. The benefits often outweigh the side effects. Without knowing what reaction you are having it is hard to know what to tell you other than potentially asking for a referral to a cardiologist if this physician is not one. Not ok: You should ok ANY use of ANY alcoholic beverages with your cardiologist. The issue is not whether there is an interaction with flecainide, but whether it is making the underlying heart disease and atrial fibrillation worse. Alcohol can CAUSE and WORSEN atrial fibrillation. If it an occasion drink or two, probably not an issue. If it is daily, and particularly more than one per day, it may be. ...Read more

EKG and Flecanide: Flecanide will not cause Long QT but may manifest Brugada like EKG. Brugada EKG is Dynamic. i.e not present all the times but certain drugs like Flecanide may manifest it. It is true: removing the drug will correct the EKG, but in individuals who had Brugada like EKG on Flecanide and who are symptomatic with loss of consciousness etc. further testing for risk assessment is needed. ...Read more
