Is Feta Cheese Bad For Cholesterol
How bad is cream cheese for health. Are cheeses in general bad too for people with high cholesterol?
Fats solid @ rm temp: As a general rule are bad for you as they are saturated (with hydrogen bonds) and so solid, not liquid at room temp. Saturated fats raise LDL (the "bad cholesterol"), which when oxidized causes plaque accumulation. Cream cheese, butter, and cheeses in general are solids at room temp, high in saturated fat and hence atherosclerotic.
Is cheese bad for high cholesterol, my dr told me to eat this instead of calcium supps but my cholsterol is high after ooph.
Lowfat cheese...: ...Such as cottage cheese does get around the cholesterol concern.

Yes yes yes yes yes: Granted, lowfat or skim milk wouldn't contain too much fat, and neither would egg whites isolated from the yolks, but in general the foods you listed are good sources of bad fats and should generally be limited.See 1 more doctor answer
Cheese: There are many nonfat cheeses on the market. Just read the labels.
Depends: Depends on how much and how often you eat it. In small amounts, not on a regular basis, it is not particularly bad. It also depends on your cholesterol and lipid levels. It is high in trans fat.
I was told butter is high in saturated fat and so is cheese so what can I do to replace that (which food) that is good in cholesterol?
Quickly: Minutes depending on how much you eat. Try it: have your cholesterol checked fasting and then come back an hour later after a full cheese meal. It also depends on what cheese you eat. Cheeses made with whole milk are going to raise it more. Low fat cheese and hard cheese like romano and parmigian will raise it less.

Ok if part of a diet: A single food item is no big deal in a cholesterol patient's diet. It is the total fat, sugar, simple carbohydrates, and calories per day that matter. A bagel is simple carbs. Cheese is protein and animal fat, which is worse that veggie fat. So, eating cheese means avoiding a certain amount of fat later in the day. Same thinking process with carbs and total calories. Everything has a daily limit.See 1 more doctor answer
Probably: Most fat free cheeses have very little or no cholesterol. Look at the nutritional label and it will include cholesterol content. If 0 or close to 0, then you should be able to enjoy the cheese. If you have high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart disease, you may want to pay attention to the sodium content as well.See 1 more doctor answer

What could cause white specks in stool? They're very small, almost like seeds or bits of feta cheese. Rest of stool is brown.
Probably not feta: Feta cheese would not look the same coming out, but sesame and other small seeds do look almost identical in your stool. Otherwise unless you are sick in some way, having unintentional weight loss, blood in stool, then this is unlikely to be significant and almost certainly something you ate.
