Is eating two meals a day healthy for a 31 year old male who weights 160 pounds ?

That depends: Hi. Not if they're egg mcmuffins and big macs. If you eat meals consisting of HEALTHY food twice daily, that's fine. It's utter nonsense to think you need 3 meals/day. If you're only hungry for two, eat two. However WHAT you eat should be healthy food: whole grains, nuts and seeds, fruits and veggies, nonfat dairy, olive and canola oil, lean meats; best prepared at home. NO fast food. Good luck! ...Read more

Also, daily walking and other exercise are good. ...Read more

As : As a board certified physician nutrition specialist, i can state that there is no good evidence that your eating pattern is bad for you. You may be interested in my blog post below on eating multiple times a day. If you feel well and are at healthy weight no problem. I am a bit concerned about your abdominal symptoms though. You should get checked for celiac disease which can cause bloating as the only symptom. Only a blood test is needed. ...Read more

I eat vegetable curry daily (different types) every meal. Does this count towards my 5 a day and is this a healthy way of eating veggies ?

Depends: a serving of cooked veggies is one cup, a serving of raw veggies is 2 cups. potatoes do not count as veggies due to significant carbohydrates. Hopefully your vegetable curries don't have too many potatoes or too much sodium. by the way, a serving of fruit is half a cup. recommendation is 5 to 10 servings of fruits and veggies a day ...Read more

What's "healthier"?: In order to answer correctly, I'd have to know what your clean and healthy eating is. If you're restricting carbohydrates for the most part and then eat a carbohydrate-heavy "cheat meal", the headache may result from transient volume overload as where sugar goes water tends to follow. ...Read more

Why only after eating the main meal of the day, getting severe pain in upper eft abdomen? Pain oes away completely after two hours or so.

Pin after meals: Most likely the culprit is the stomach itself. Either an ulcer or just hyperacidity can cause such pain which gets better once the food passes further. You should see a GI specialist who can specifically diagnose these issues. In the mean time, avoid fatty food and high calorie diet. Fruits and veggies can help. ...Read more

It : It is not likely that you will have sustained weight loss just from fasting. This is because your body will interpret this as starvation and will "hold on for dear life" to the fat in your body to keep you going. Vitamins are not enough nutrition to prevent this problem. Eating only once a day probably also will not be effective. I have heard that sumo wrestlers actually make themselves gain weight by eating only twice a day, getting hungry between meals. What happens specifically with eating very little (one of the ways the body adapts to calorie restriction) is that your thyroid metabolism changes, so that the T4 made by your thyroid gland converts to reverse T3 (liothyronine) instead of the active T3 (liothyronine) that your body needs to function. This is nature's way of protecting us from starvation. Anything your body interprets as "physiologic stress" will cause this phenomenon, including dieting, depression or illness. This is why an effective diet program must include enough total calories and balanced nutrition (complex carbohydrates, protein and fat) to give your body what it needs while inducing a fat-burning state. ...Read more
