Is Eating Fruit And Vegetable All Day Long Healthy
Is it normal to poop 5-6 times a day? I am a slim, active, healthy 37 year old woman. My diet is pretty good, although I should eat more fruit and vegetables, and I probably eat too much sugar. My poop is usually a 4 or a 5 on the Bristol scale, although
May be normal: Moving your bowels 5-6 times a day is more than average but not necessarily an sign of illness. If you are feeling healthy and this has been a normal frequency for you and not a recent change, and if you are not having loose, watery stools, abdominal cramping or bloody stools then your likely ok. (Some people with IBS have frequent movements when under stress.) ...Read more
Good foods: We all need protein in our diet, so dairy or lean meats and nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, pecans) are good sources of this. Also, whole grains add nutrients and fiber to the diet, so these are good to add to diet as well. The key is variety - use things like color to get that variety. The more different colors on your plate, the better the diet!! ...Read more
Can you eat raw frozen and raw fresh vegetables as long as you rinse them first? I don't see the issue since we don't cook our raw fruit.
OK for most BUT...: Many people eat only raw vegetables (and raw food) for health benefits, but many nutrients in vegetables are better absorbed when cooked (esp. if boiled or steamed) while others are degraded by cooking. Cruciferous veggies have chemicals that suppress thyroid function if eaten in excess that are deactivated by cooking. I am 49 healthy woman and I am contemplating going on a raw fruit and vegetable diet is there anything I need to make sure I include to stay healthy?
Raw food thoughts...: Raw fruits and raw vegetables have many benefits, but there are some drawbacks, which is why all human cultures eat cooked food. Raw plants have tough Cellulose fiber, so require more chewing to break into the cells so we can get the nutrients. Undigested fiber is fermentation food for our gut bacteria, leading to gas. Without cooking, one eats live bacteria, fungi, and parasites that are on food. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Fruit/Vegetable: Almost all fruits and vegetables are good for you. Bananas help with soothing the stomach and stopping diarrhea. Pineapple and papaya help with the digestion of your food. Eat fruit separately from your meals, because it is better digested this way. People individually may have food allergies, but most people do not. Remember to eat a variety of fruits/vegetables to get all you need. ...Read more
That depends.: If you use a whole food juicer you will get enzymes exposed and the food fiber. Howerver if you use a juice extractor you will not get the benefit of the fiber. Eating food whole - you get the fiber and nutrients with less access to the enzymes. I find that whole juiciing helps one to get more vegetable/ fruit servings at one. ...Read more
Eat 7 portions of fruit daily, plenty of vegetables, eat pretty healthy and exercise intense 4 to 5 days a week, could get diabtes because of glucose?
Unlikely but...: While fruit contains sugars as glucose and fructose, the fiber in fruit reduces its effects on raising blood sugar. In the context of an otherwise healthy diet and exercise you probably won't get diabetes, though it would be wise to consume mostly lower-glycemic fruits like berries, cherries, apples and citrus while minimizing melons and tropical fruits that tend to have a higher glycemic index. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Not necessarily: There is no single diet that is best for everyone. I believe it is wise to minimize sugars and simple starches, but i believe a diet with whole grains, vegetables, fruit and low-fat proteins is healthier than a strict low carb diet (which is relatively high in fat and protein). See http://drrandybaker.Com/2013/01/20/diet-and-health/ for my essay on the pros and cons of various diets. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is the juice diet healthy? You do it 6 times a day and only drink the juice you make out of multiple fruites and veggies. How long is okay for this
This can be healthy: If you add in protein - rice protein is easily digested. Cleanses of this type are often done for 3 days or a little longer. Shouldn't be done without knowledge of what you are doing. For instance - do you know if it is ok to juice apple seeds? What rinds can be juiced and which shouldn't be? How do you clean vegetables. Too many fruit juices can be too much sugar. Juices must be freshly juiced. ...Read more

I was told a long time ago I had an extra long colon. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables but if I don't take mom every day I cant have a bm. lately?
Drink lots of fluids: to help make up for your extra long colon. One of the main functions of the colon is to absorb fluid, so the longer it takes for your stool to pass through the colon, the more water is reabsorbed and the more constipated you can become. Milk of Magnesia works by drawing water back into the intestines. Other conditions, like hypothyroidism can cause constipation, so see your Dr if this continues! ...Read more
