No harm: A little time consuming but no harm likely as long as your kidneys and heart are working fine. Not sure why you would want to do this however. Are you doing it because your body requires it (you are thirsty all the time?) if so then you might consider that you have diabetes or a rare condition called diabetes insipidus. Water is tolerated: well and a wide range of input is able to be taken without problems. A gallon is about the old-wives-tale amount of "8 glasses a day". While there isn't a strong reason to drink that, it isn't harmful and many people do. It's a bit much. And 1 glass a day is a bit small. Thirst is an indicator of need to drink. No!: If you have them checked every day and they stay normal (which they won't) then fine. Otherwise, this is an extremely silly and dangerous idea. Why on earth would you want to do this? People die from the electrolyte imbalances they get from, for example, trying to get around a drug screen by drinking this much water.
