Anti-cholinergic : Diphenhydramine's anticholinergic effects are to blame. They cause it to aggravate increased intraocular pressure, and dry secretions in those having asthma attacks, making it hard to clear secretions. Probably no issue: I notice your question has been posted for a long time. I hope your ophthalmologist has addressed this for you. Unless their is some concern about the drainage angle of your eye(scarring from surgery--pas), or if your glaucomatous disease is far advanced, or your iop is uncontrolled, i don't see there to be too much of a concern about diving. DPH & Asthma, glauco: Diphenhydramine(dph), benadryl, (diphenhydramine) is an antihistaminic having an Atropine like effect, i.e. In asthma is dries up secretions in the bronchi ( the respiratory pipes), thus it worsens asthma.
