Is Diarrhea A Symptom Of Cold Sores
Loose stools is a symptom in which a person's stool (poop) does not hold its shape after it goes into the toilet. Instead of remaining a shaped piece of poop, the poop spreads out in the toilet bowl water. Very loose stool is called diarrhea. Loose stool can be caused by infections, certain foods or drinks, ...Read more

Probably not: Cold sores--or herpes simplex reactivation--usually will present as an area at the lip red border or just beyond, that initially may sting or burn and then goes on to develop a cluster of tiny blisters. These may coalesce into one or more larger blisters and finally open. Cracking at the corners of the mouth is often from licking due to dryness (ie allergies). ...Read more
Burning and pain: A cold sore is caused by a common virus-herpes simplex. They begin as a burning sensation in the lip area and this is followed by the formation of a blister. The blister ruptures and leaves a painful ulceration that then crusts over and heals within 10-14 days. There are some topical agents that can speed healing or abort the formation of the blister if caught early. ...Read more
Just at ulcer site: Cold sores on the lips or near the lips, are usually caused by recurrent oral herpes virus. They start as a slightly raised reddish area, with a bit of numbness & tingling there. Then comes a cluster of tiny blisters, which break open soon, with some pain; leaving a sore (ulcer) to heal up over a week. Sores appear more often when one is under stress or is ill from another illness. ...Read more
Painful blisters: Cold sores are painful blisters on or near the lips, cause by a herpes virus. They can come and go, since the body never completely gets rid of the virus. For many people with cold sores, topical over the counter treatments for pain relief are enough. If not, topical or oral antiviral medications can help if started soon after the cold sore first appears. ...Read more
Hours: Oral herpes can come about at anytime if you've been exposed to the virus. Typically, the virus lies dormant until a stressful event. When these events occur the first signs are tingling and changes in the skin. Sometimes you'll see white nodules start to develop. The faster you get treatment the better chances the virus can be halted and the faster the healing can begin. ...Read more

I only get cold sores not often once a year and was told I have HSV 2 no symptoms ever. What does this mean can I still pass it easy to someone else?
HSV-1 vs. HSV-2: Most of the general population has hsv-1 which causes cold sores. Hsv-2 is the virus that causes genital herpes, and you may just be lucky in that you have no sores and/or physical symptoms. You may be a "carrier" without active symptoms. You may still transmit the disease, so you need to practice safe sex. Hope this helps. ...Read more
Two different things: Cankers (recurrent aphthous ulcers) are an "auto-immune" type reaction to trauma/stress (such as biting your lip). They occur on the loose membranes of your lips, cheeks and floor of the mouth. Your dentist can treat with prednisone, laser or chemicals to cut pain. Cold sores are hsv. Abreva helps those some, but most need doc rx. Both go away without treatment in 10-14 days (pain only 3-5 days). ...Read more

Probably safe: Just a positive blood test for HSV1, right? Without any symptoms of oral or genital herpess? If so, there is little risk to your partner. 20-50% of adults in the US have postive HSV1 tests and most don't transmit the virus to anyone. If you ever have a possible outbreak (an otherwise unexplained oral or genital sore), don't expose your partner at that time. Otherwise, don't worry about it. ...Read more

My husband has hsv1 with no symptoms of cold sores, can I still get genital herpes from this through oral sex?
There are two separate herpes viruses. One cannot transmit a virus they do not have.
75% of adults have hsv 1 already. We now understand that 90% of those do not have outbreaks. But, viral shedding does occur and contagiousness is common even without an outbreak. Hsv 2, the 'genital' herpes, is found in 25% of humans. ...Read more

Maybe : We know now that 1 in 5 Americans have the HSV 1 and/or 2 virus. The vast majority of them don't even know that they have it. Unfortunately both types 1and2 can be either oral or genital and the only way to know where u have the virus is by having an outbreak. The best advice is to b safe ...Read more

Should I take igm & igg blood test for Hsv if exposed to g herpes but no outbreak, have other symptoms, and had mouth cold sores in the past. Advice?
Depends: If the exposure is within a couple of weeks, IgM would be the test to get. On the other hand, there is no harm if getting IgG which would indicate exposure months or years ago. Unfortunately an infected person, even in the absence of symptoms, may infect other people. Until this situation has been settled, insist on condom use. ...Read more

See a physician!: Your symptoms are worrisome for possible pneumonia. You may need antibiotic treatment. Born w/ neutropenia, I have suffered w/cold sores on my lips/nose 4 yrs. Now im getting them inside my mouth, tongue& roof. Isn't that a sign for HIV?
Is a HSV igm & igg blood test helpful after g herpes exposure 6+months ago? No genital outbreak, other symptoms, but have had mouth cold sores before.
Probably yes: The HSV IgG tests are excellent, and a negative result for HSV2 6+ months after exposure shows you were not infected. The HSV1 result should have been positive if your diagnosis of past cold sores is correct, but once in a while the test misses HSV1 (but rarely HSV2). The IgM result doesn't help one way or the other -- it's inherently unreliable anyway, never done by herpes or STD experts. ...Read more
