Is Deoxygenated Blood Actually Blue
I know veins carry deoxygenated blood, wich is why they are blue, but why would they seem darker/more noticible some days as opposed to other days?
Many factors.: Veins constantly change in size depending on many factors including level of hydration or dehydration, pulse rate, cardiac output, hot and cold environment and even skin color and texture. Since blood is always in a dynamic(moving) state, all of the above factors can affect the size of the veins as well as the apparent color of the venous blood. ...Read more
Blood Test vs Urine: It would be better to say that the blood test is able to detect smaller amounts of the hCG that indicates pregnancy. Urine home pregnancy tests are very accurate and also very sensitive, and they vary a bit brand to brand. Once you have missed your period, either test would normally detect hCG these days. Good luck! ...Read more
After haveing a hysterectomy after a year is that normal out of the blue tonite I seen a lil bit of blood ?
Hysterectomy: You are awfully young to have had to go through such a major procedure, and I hope your health is better for it. I would not be concerned about the occasional spot of blood. However, if it is frequent, or more than just a spot, check in with your doctor to make sure you don't have something else going on like a vaginal infection. ...Read more
Sex on Friday night. Blood LH levels 47 IU/L Sunday 09:00. Clear Blue OV test + Sunday night 18:30. Sex again Sunday 21:00. Could we have conceived?
Too soon to know: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. Please seek care from a doctor to protect your and your baby's health. ...Read more
Usually not: If right near the needle stick site (usually the inside of your elbow), it suggests that you had some bleeding into the tissues and made a pretty good sized bruise, that will take time to reabsorb and go away. Local warm compresses can help speed up the process. If painful / hot / or other symptoms, have it checked by your dr or an urgent care. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My son recently had a lot of unexplained black and blues on diff. Parts of his body. Blood test results indicated relative eosinophilia. What's this?
Possible allergies : Due to the bruising a CBC was likely done to exclude a low platelet count (platelets are sticky cells that are an important part of clotting) . A CBC will also give information about anemia and types of white blood cells. One type of white blood cell is an eosinophil, which can be elevated in children with allergies. It may be worth talking to your doctor about furthur testing for allergies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Periods becoming more irregular, lasts more than 2-3 weeks heavy spotting little bits of fresh blood with deoxygenated blood, how to fix? Not on pill.
Dark red: The color of blood is related to the amount of oxygen in the blood - the more oxygen in the blood, the more red it appears. If there is less oxygen in the blood, it will appear darker - but still a shade of red. Veins carry less oxygen than arteries. So, blood inside a vein is often a dark red/maroon color. On the surface of the skin, veins can look blue due to overlying skin pigmentation. ...Read more
