Real cranberries: Seems the real thing is better than the juice. For my female patients i recommend a dozen or so dry cranberries daily, in a salad, cereal or by themselves. Excellent source of antioxidants also. Good for early bladder symptoms, but a kidney infection is a truly serious deep seated infection that needs antibiotics asap. Possibly but...: A UTI means urinary tract infection which could be bladder or kidney but this usually refers to a bladder infection. A kidney infection is more serious.Cranberry juice contains d-mannose, a sugar that helps if the UTI is caused by e. Coli (about 90%) but not if caused by other bacteria. UTI: You would have to drink so much cranberry juice to prevent UTI that you would drown in it. Cloudy urine is very common and is usually due to chemicals precipitating out when the toilet water changes the acid/base content of the urine.
