Is Cranberry Juice Good For Kidney Infections
Real cranberries: Seems the real thing is better than the juice. For my female patients I recommend a dozen or so dry cranberries daily, in a salad, cereal or by themselves. Excellent source of antioxidants also. Good for early bladder symptoms, but a kidney infection is a truly serious deep seated infection that needs antibiotics asap. You are at risk for a blood infection if not treated properly. ...Read more
Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) has been used as both a food and a medicine for centuries. It is native to North America and was used by Native Americans to treat bladder and kidney diseases. Early settlers from England learned to use the berry both raw and cooked for many ailments, including appetite loss, stomach problems, blood disorders, and scurvy, caused by not getting enough vitamin C. Cranberry is best known for preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs), commonly caused by bacteria known as Escherichia coli (E. coli). At first, scientists thought cranberry worked by making urine acidic enough to kill the bacteria. Now, studies show that cranberry actually prevents bacteria from attaching to the walls of the urinary tract. Strong scientific studies support using cranberry, either in capsules or as juice, for preventing -- though ...Read more
Does cranberry juice help when you have a kidney infection? What is different between UTI and kidney infection?
A UTI means urinary tract infection which could be bladder or kidney but this usually refers to a bladder infection. A kidney infection is more serious.Cranberry juice contains d-mannose, a sugar that helps if the UTI is caused by e. Coli (about 90%) but not if caused by other bacteria. Pure d-mannose will help more than cranberry juice & can be taken along with antibiotics.

Cranberry juice: Cranberry juice and tablets have been recommended for uti's. It may or may not help. It is not recommended for kidney stones. Can diet cranberry juice from oceanspray be good as juice to heal h.Pylori and mild gastritis. Also what fruits and food to help heal the infection?
Probably not: The mild gastritis is likely caused by the h. Pylori infection. H pylori is a bacteria that attacks stomach lining. Effective treatment is a 10-14 days of antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor (like omeprazole) to decrease acid. Lack of treatment may lead to chronic stomach pain and/or stomach ulcers. There is no good evidence that cranberry juice or specific foods are good treatments. ...Read more

Not true: Cranberry juice contains substances called proanthocyanidins which are active in bladder to prevent bacterial adherence and thus a useful urinary infection (cystitis) preventative. No cleansing properties for the kidneys. Kidneys clean themselves as they filter water, wasteproducts, glucose & electrolytes, then reabsorb necessary water glucose & electrolytes. Cleaning out stones can be a problem. ...Read more
No need to use.: Water does the same thing. Cranberry juice doesn't clean out your kidney any better than any other juice. There is still some banter and common use of cranberry juice for preventing or treating uti, but evidence for this is weak. As best I can see there is no benefit to juicing and there is certainly no need to use kidney cleaner. ...Read more

Unfortunately you should go back to the ER unless you can be seen in an office in the am. Sounds like a likely UTI with possibility of kidney infection. Untreated your remaining kidney can also become compromised. Cranberry juice is not going to help at this point and you need to get assessment and treatment ASAP. If you didn't already, please let them know up front about the lone kidney
