I'm allergic to penicillin and camping in remote area. Will 150 mg. Clindamycin. Treat my strep? Should I double it? How often do I take it?
Talk to doctor: I think catching a strep infection from camping is at the very low risk category. You should be more worried over GI or sinus issues. Discuss with your doctor re the best choice for your travel destination since clindamycin may lead to serious GI issue for some people and this is not something you would ever want to suffer in a remote area. ...Read more

From your symptoms you appear to have an extremely broken down or periodontally involved tooth. Antibiotics will not fix your dental problems, they only take care of the symptoms in the short term so that a dentist can treat the problem. Are you self medicating or were these antibiotics prescribed for you?
The problem with taking the antibiotics for so long without dental treatment is that you kill off the weaker bacteria leaving yourself with a "super" infection, which is antibiotic resistant and can spread to other parts of your body. The earaches and headaches are from the pressure inside of the bone around the infection. The abcess may now have to be surgically drained to relieve the pressure and rid you of the infection so that you can be treated.
Please seek dental care immediately to avoid further complications. ...Read more

I was on 10 day regimen of penicillin for a tooth abscess. The dentist filled my tooth then pain seriously worsened. Now im taking clindamycin and starting fourth day. Still in severe pain.?
Abcess: If you had an abcessed tooth, then a filling is not the right treatment. The abcessed tooth would require a root canal treatment. If you had a root canal treatment, then possibly the new antibiotic needs to work. Sometimes adding a steroid can help. You may consult with an emdodontist, or root canal specialist, for a second opinion. Also make sure another tooth nearby isn't the culprit. ...Read more

Sometimes removal of the tonsils or repair of a deviated septum in the nose can stop these types of chronic problems. ...Read more
OK: Thankfully, if you took 3 penicillin you don't need to go to the ER or call poison control. Depending on the strength of penicillin, sometimes it is dosed to take 4 times a day (not all at once), but if you accidentally took them all at once you still won't "overdose" - might get a stomach ache or diarrhea, but no OD. Still, always take your meds as prescribed!!! ...Read more
