Hypothyroid, is wheezing a symptom?

Hypothyroid, is wheezing a symptom?

Not usually: Hypothyroidism can be associated with goiter, an enlarged thyroid. Usually breathing is not affected, but in extreme cases, one could imagine pressure could be put on the airway — technically this is not called wheezing, but stridor, and is an emergency. I seem to have every symptom of hypothyroidism but nobody believes me, what can I do?

I seem to have every symptom of hypothyroidism but nobody believes me, what can I do?

Blood test: I'd ask your physician to order you a thyroid panel (tsh, ft4 and thyroid peroxidase antibodies). If the antibodies are negative and TSH and ft4 is normal, then you do not have a thyroid problem and we need to look at other causes for your symptoms. If the symptoms are truly caused by hypothyrodism, the labs should show it. I don't recommend going by symptoms alone. You need both symptoms & labs. ...Read more

I have nearly all hypothyroid symptom listed, but my labs came back normal. I'm very upset I can't figure out what's wrong. Seek 2nd opinion?

Hypothyroid symptoms: The symptoms of hypothyroidism are not specific to thyroid. If the TSH and ft4 are normal, then the symptoms are not from thyroid problems. You may want to seek a physician who can help you figure out what this is, but don't "doctor shop" for someone who will give you thyroid meds that you don't need and which will only obscure the real problem. ...Read more

Have every bad symptom there is for hypothyroid, even swallowing and confusion issues. Got bloodwork. Will meds (levo) suppress all symptoms?

Hypothyroidism: Assuming all of your symptoms are from your low thyroid, then you should expect them all to resolve. It won't be overnight. VERY POSSIBLY: As there are different types of ankle and foot swelling, you should be examined and evaluated by a doctor.
