I've taken citalopram for two days and am stopping it and doing 25 mg of Xanax i only take 1 in the morning do I have to worry about drinking tonight?
Xanax 25mg?: I am sure you mean xanax 0.25mg, as 25 mg is a wopper of a dose. Do not mix xanax and alcohol as both act on the same receptor in the brain giving an additive effect with adverse reaction. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Citalopram, maybe: It's possible for citalopram and other similar antidepressants like prozac, zoloft, paxil, Lexapro and Luvox to cause erectile difficulties. However, there can be other causes such as depression, anxiety and medical issues. I would suggest discussing this with your physician. If it is from the citalopram, there are ways to address this. If it's from something else, there is help also. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Xanax & citalopram general questions? I read Xanax is addicting with w/drawal signs and citalopram isn't. Is this true? Can you take aspirin w/either?
Addiction Medicine: Alprazolam or xanax is incredibly addicting and for some very difficult to get off of. Citalopram is not addicting. Citalopram is able to work to prevent or diminish anxiety and depression and Alprazolam is just a short acting sedative that does not help reduce or cure one's anxiety. Aspirin is safe with both. ...Read more

Give it time: Depression/anxiety medications in that class tend to take at least 4-6 weeks to start working. You may be a candidate for a higher dose or an additional medication, though, if you aren't feeling ANY change at 4 weeks. Check back in with your doc and let him/her know how you're feeling. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from the xanax. ...Read more

Better NOTto drink: Anxiety of any kind can worsen with alcohol -- so can depression. This may not be immediate, but certainly with a hangover. Also in combination with zoloft and xanax, it's not advisable to drink alcohol at all. ...Read more
Xanax or celexa (citalopram) which is better for panic attacks and which has worse side effects or more addicting? Thank you!
It depends: Celexa is better for long-term treatment/prevention of recurring attacks, and actually works well (as do other ssris, like paxil, prozac, etc.). Xanax, on the other hand, is better for acute attacks, to be taken when you're actually having an attack. It's better not to take it all the time if possible, as it is a controlled substance, and, thus, more addicting. ...Read more
