On antibiotics Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day for 10 days to treat prostatitis. Will this medicine cover STDs, if there is any?
Got told I have prostatitis and been on 3 different types of antibiotics including ciprofloxacin, pain and burning still there. Only 18,worried.
See remark: prostatitis is hard to define, diagnose or treat.I have done work in this field for years. It is an enigma to urologists If antibiotics are not helping (since we can rarely find a + culture in the urine in this disease,we treat symptomatically.Sit in warm tub for 15 min..take Ibuprofen (600 mg twice a day) if you are not allergic to it. Avoid spicey food, pepper,if possible alcohol for about a week. ...Read more
I'm currently on 4 weeks course of antibiotic (cipro) for prostatitis. If I have epididymitis then it can be treated with the same course of antibioti?
Been on cipro 6 weeks, prostatitis symptoms were gone and now are coming back, one week or so of cipro left, should I switch antibiotics at this point?
Assuming the bacteria is unknown. What antibiotic is best for epidymitis/ prostatitis? Levaquin or cipro, and why? Generally speaking overall.
CDC guidelines: CDC creates guidelines for treatment of acute and chronic epididymitis. Chronicity is defined as greater than 6 weeks of symptoms. The most common treatment is to treat for both N. Gonorrhoeae and C. Trachomatis (Chlamydia and Gonorrhoeae). The treatment is Ceftriaxone 250mg IM (shot) and 10 days of Doxycycline 100mg po x2 Anal sex different* http://www.cdc.gov/std/tg2015/epididymitis.htm ...Read more

Been treated for prostatitis with ciprofloxacin for 2w, but my symptoms came back after 1 week after ending the treatment. How long should I take it?
Been taking doxycycline 7 weeks prostatitus helped but not much can't take cipro need a stronger antibiotic what is another good choice?
Maybe none...: If doxycycline didn't clear it up, it is unlikely that any other antibiotic will do so. Most prostatitis isn't due to infection; antibiotics often tried but don't help much. Return to the doctor or clinic who prescribed treatment. If in doubt about doctor's expertise, you won't go wrong with one of your country's excellent NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics. Or a urologist. Good luck! ...Read more
11month long epididymo-prostatitis, prescribed ciprofloxacin 6 week course. Pain usually comes back 3 hours after taking - cause for higher dosage?
Need to reassess...: Your clinical resistance to respond to antibiotic use deserves reassessing clinical accuracy in dx. To do so, collect the features, degree, and progress of the symptoms with their detailed sequence of event, and bring those to doc for review, analysis, more hx, physicals, and tests as needed so to deduce a more reasonable DX for proposing more pertinent rx. Best wish... ...Read more
