Hello I'm a 27 year old female good health recently had my blood pressure checked and the reading have been low 90/55 my recent 93/55 is this normal?

Likely benign: If you have no other medical conditions and no symptoms that blood pressure is fine. Other symptoms would include lightheadedness, particularly when you are getting up. Other medical conditions would include known valvular heart disease or hormonal disease. If you have no other symptoms I wouldn't be concerned. If you develop symptoms or something changes, contact a health care provider. ...Read more

Good evening. My average blood pressure 24 hr reading was 169/99 I took 2 Lisinopril 10mg. Blood pressure now dropped to 114/71 in 36hrs????

Confer with doc: I am very concerned that your 24 hr reading was so high but it's good that it came down to 114/77. However, my biggest question is where is your prescribing provider in all of this?? He or she needs to be informed of how high your BP was and I hope he/she was involved in the decision of you taking 2 lisinopril. It's dangerous for you to make those decisions on your own. Please see your doc!! ...Read more

My blood pressure and pulse has flip flopped this week but never been as low as it is today. These are my readings 113/55 p 69, 114/59p 68, 115/57p65. What should I do?

Not always bad: Blood pressure below 120/80 is not always a bad thing. As long as you are not having symptoms you should be fine. A heart rate below sixty, for example, is considered bradycardia (slower than normal) but can be completely ok if non-symptomatic (extremely fit people like runners etc). Notify your doctor of any light headedness or dizziness. ...Read more

I have blood pressure readings showing 150?

How serious is a blood pressure reading of 82/56?

How serious is a blood pressure reading of 82/56?

Variable: One never treats a number per se; but rather symptoms if any. A BP of 82/56 is certainly on the low side especially for a 44 year old male. However if you are of slight build that may be normal for you. If you are not lightheaded and well hydrated, basically asymptomatic with that number, no need to worry. If you are light headed, then you ought to seek medical attention. ...Read more

Is a blood pressure reading of 147/75 normal for a 43 year old man?

Is a blood pressure reading of 147/75 normal for a 43 year old man?

Blood pressure: The upper number of 147 is a little on the high side, but not terribly so. The fact that the numbers are odd numbers suggests to me that the pressure was measured with an automatic cuff. Manual BP readings are more accurate, and in any event one should not decide too much on the basis of a single reading. Multiple readings taken over time are more useful. ...Read more

Can a person raise their blood pressure reading just by thinking about it rising?

Can a person raise their blood pressure reading just by thinking about it rising?

Yes: That can happen when a person with high blood pressure checks his BP (to write it down), and notices that it is higher than he wants it to be. He thinks about it and takes it again, but it turns out a few points higher than before. Then, he thinks about it some more, and takes it a third time, but now it's even higher... So, the more he thinks and worries about it, the higher the BP goes. ...Read more

Why is a sitting blood pressure reading higher than a standing blood pressure reading?

Gravity: The short answer is the effect of gravity. When you stand up, your blood will "pool" in your lower extremities. The body has to increase the heart rate and vascular tone in order to keep blood pumping upwards towards your arms, neck and head. It is typical for the blood pressure to fall a little bit when you stand up; if it falls too much, this can be abnormal though, and should be evaluated. ...Read more
