Is Blood Pressure 132 69
I'm a 17 year old female. I have a blood pressure of 132/69 and I weigh 206 lbs. I'm 5"10, am I in somewhat of a healthy range?
Do you want the truth? Or a feel good answer?
You are overweight for a woman at 5'10" unless you are a serious body builder. You goal should be a weight about 150 pounds (!!). But for now think hard about the worst thing you eat regularly and allow it only once in small portion one day a week, promise yourself to eat a serving of fruit or vegetable with each meal and exercise daily- good luck!! ...Read more

Its fine: No worries - as long as majority of the readings are below 130/80 and you don't have any exercise induced hypertension, should be ok. Male 22 sat down blood pressure 132/82 hr 66 stood up 124/81 hr 77. Why did my BP drop, shouldn't it go up?
Equilibration: It seems when you stood up. Your BP dropped slightly, your hr went up. A proper response to drop in bp. Usually the body takes a minute to equilibrate the change in position and can normalize to an extent. People who are dehydrated like in fasting may not be able to do so completely. Some people actually can overshoot due to release of hormones. You're young and seems ok. Ask your doctor about it. ...Read more
I am 66. On Monday my blood pressure was 132/94. On Friday it was 111/72. Is there an issue of concern here.
Not urgent: I will give you a general answer about blood pressure. Getting blood pressure and control helps prevent heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems. When you measure your blood pressure, make sure you are relaxed for more than 30 minutes and check it 3 times and you can use the lowest number. Remember to check with your pcp if you still have concerns ...Read more

Blood pressure was 130/70 and two days later checked it and it was 147/90. The morning after that it was 132/80. Should I be worried?
Prehypertension: These signify prehypertension (defined as BP 130-140/80-90) for the most part. They might signify a need for close f/u--90% of prehypertensives ultimately require meds. The numbers might improve first with attention to weight loss as well as sodium/alcohol reduction and smoking cessation. These are good strategies to avoid or at least delay a need for meds. ...Read more
I dieted and lost 30 lbs, blood pressure has dropped to average 116/69 and my GFR dropped to 58. I'm 70. Should I be concerned over the gfr?
Depends: A GFR over 60 is considered normal. However, if you have had a recent significant drop in your gfr, that should be evaluated further. If your GFR is stable at 58 it is most likely ok. There are many other lab values (creatinine/potassium)and clinical values (water weight/respiratory status) that are evaluated before an assessment is made over kidney function. ...Read more

Eat healthy food:
Stop high carb foods (grains, lentils, potato based items). Also avoid milk protein since it causes insulin resistance that eventually causes high BP.
Low carb food items such as flesh foods, eggs, non starchy vegetables, avocados, saturated fat (butter, ghee, coconut oil), olive oil are very effective.
Get some sunshine daily.
