Is constant pain in lumbar left side normal in 40th week of pregnancy? No signs of active labor. Pain doesn't allow for waking and sitting.

Is constant pain in lumbar left side normal in 40th week of pregnancy? No signs of active labor. Pain doesn't allow for waking and sitting.

Not normal but seen: Constant back pain limiting basic activities of daily living (e.g. Walking or sitting) isn't normal; not even at 40 week of pregnancy. The weight gain, the "basketball" & surge in hormone preparing pelvic bones for delivery may contribute to the problem. Constant severe activity limiting pain should be discussed with ob. C-section is considered as the condition may interfere w/ vaginal delivery.

I am 37 weeks and am dilated 1cm & 80% effaced. I am having constant pain in my lower back & pelvic pressure. Will I go into labor soon?

Pregnancy: These are signs that the baby is probably making its way down. But lower back pain and pelvic pressure are common symptoms in third trimester. There is no way of telling how soon you will go into labor. If these symptoms persist or worsen, go to the ER or call your OB. Congrats.

When my baby gets tight inside my stomach like a ball and am having a constant pain down my belly, and can't really breath but no contractions is that going into labor?

When my baby gets tight inside my stomach like a ball and am having a constant pain down my belly, and can't really breath but no contractions is that going into labor?

It's a contraction: How does a baby get tight like a ball and cause pain? Well, the baby doesn't do anything. The uterus squeezes tightly and balls up (resulting in pains), which is a contraction. Time to talk to labor and delivery and/or to the doctor. What to do next depends on how many weeks one is pregnant and how often the contractions are coming.

Violent and continuous vomiting during labour has injured my oesophagus and I am in constant pain with it and cannot eat or drink.

Violent and continuous vomiting during labour has injured my oesophagus and I am in constant pain with it and cannot eat or drink.

Gastroenterologist: I assume a gastroenterologist has evaluated and advised you. If the injury was recent, perhaps you're dealing with tears in the lining; if not, chronic inflammatory changes and or spasms may be the problem. A soft, bland diet, taking liquid antacid like maalox or mylanta to coat the esophagus and also taking a ppi like prilosec or nexium (esomeprazole) may help. Repeat endoscopy may be needed in no improvement.

My grandmother always complains about her upper back hurting. What can help her constant pain go. Away?

My grandmother always complains about her upper back hurting. What can help her constant pain go. Away?

Pain Management: Back pain tend to be chronic and almost never heals. If severe go to a pain management specialist to receive injections of anasthesics with cortisone. Some pts will require strong pain medicine for ever. In elderly pts a screening with x ray, MRI or ct scan is done to rule out metastatic cancer and to visualize the area. Other options is to see an spinal orthopedic surgeon to discuss surgery.

I have a sharp pain on my lower left side of my back. It is not a constant pain but rather comes and goes. But the pain is very sharp?

I have a sharp pain on my lower left side of my back. It is not a constant pain but rather comes and goes. But the pain is very sharp?

M.D. visit: This pain may be related to a number of factors including muscular pain, renal system infection or hip pain. I would suggest monitoring your temperature and being seen by your doctor if a heating pad and motrin do not provide relief. If you have a fever and/or change in urination pattern, please see you doctor.

My back is in constant pain and now its going to my neck I've tried hot and cold staying active an almost every painpill but nothing helps?

Seek treatment: Masking the problem with pills is not the answer. You have proven that becasue they have not helped. Pain management doctors can help you determine the root cause fo the problem, but again do not accept only medications as the treatment.

I have a constant pain in my lower right side of my back. What could this be it just started today?

Lower back pain: Being 30yo I doubt you have had a back problem before so a kidney stone could be but this usually comes on quickly and usually alot of pain. You could have picked up something heavy and have a muscle strain to your muscles this causes pain on movement and feels better at rest. Take 800mg of Motrin or see your doctor if severe pain.

What is causing constant pain (2 yrs) in my lower right back that extends around side to front? Feels better for a few hours after massage.

What is causing constant pain (2 yrs) in my lower right back that extends around side to front? Feels better for a few hours after massage.

Maybe Muscular: From your diagnostic procedures, it suggests that you may have had prior back surgery as MRI of the l-spine is seldom done with contrast prior to surgery. Regardless, your relief with massage suggests a muscular origin, rather than neurological, such as spasm or myofasciitis. A physical medicine specialist or physical therapist may be able to get you some releif.

I keep having a constant pain in the middle to lower part of my back on the right side. This has been going on for some months now. What is it?

Needs further workup: Pain indicates a potential problem that ranges from tumors, chronic appendicitis, kidney stones to just muscle strain or a disk problem. Need to see a physician for a thorough history taking, examination and directed tests that may include blood, urine and ct scans.

Constant pain near base of spine and top of glute?

Constant pain near base of spine and top of glute?

Be seen: There are a lot of structures in that area that can cause pain including the intervertebral discs, the lumbar facet joints, and the SI joints. If it is causing you a lot of trouble, I would not hesitate to be seen and a detailed exam and appropriate studies can usually determine the cause.

Pain in the back right bottom part of head. It's a lingering constant pain. 3 weeks now?

Pain in the back right bottom part of head. It's a lingering constant pain. 3 weeks now?

Headache: It is important to describe whether the pain is on one side of the head or the other, whether it is throbbing or constant, whether it comes and goes and whether it is associated with nausea or other symptoms. Constant pain at the back of the head sounds more like muscle tension. A vascular headache would be throbbing and intermittent. You may need X-rays of your spine and brain scan.
