Neosporin with vs without bacitracin zinc, what's the difference?

NONE: Both worthless. Application to wounds, burns, surgery, or anything does not prevent or cure infections. They are among the most common agents that people are allergic to. They cross-react, so allergy to one often means allergy to the other. They often interfere with wound healing. Their use contributes to emerging antibiotic- resistant bacteria. Each has been "allergen of the year" in different ye

What are the differences between Neosporin with or without bacitracin zinc?

None: They are both useless and sometimes harmful. Throw them away. Studies on people with surgical wounds demonstrate clearly that application of vaseline or Aquaphor to wounds is superior to using aminoglycocide or polypeptide antibiotic ointments. The purveyors of these useless products should be ashamed of taking advantage of so many misled suckers.

Why are there two kinds of neosporin? One with bacitracin zinc and one without?

Antibiotic OTC s: There are essentially three common OTC antibiotic ointments. First is Bacitracin. Second is Polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) which is Bacitracin plus Polymyxin B. Neosporin, aka "Triple antibiotic" ointment is Bacitracin + Polymyxin B + Neomycin. Many people (perhaps 1 in 5) are allergic to Neomycin, therefore many dermatologists recommend other options. Aquaphor is a common choice and has no antibiotic in it.

What is better to put on a small wound infection, neosporin or bacitracin?

Either one is: Ok, but main thing is adequate drainage and mechanical cleansing, systemic antibiotics if necessary. Topical ointment is probably of much lesser significance. Ask your surgeon to be sure.

Allergic to vancomycin IV drip in the past (red man), also allergic to neosporin and topical bacitracin which gave me a rash. Any natural rash cures?

Vancomycin: "red nan syndrome" is rather a side effect not a true allergy, can be avoided by slower infusion rate of the drug, if you you are allergic to neosporin or bacitracin applied topically, better avoid using them, as for the rash, I am not sure what kind and what is the possible cause, need to be seen, if you can't see a doctor at the moment, try hydrocortisone cream 1% OTC for now, till u c ur doctor

I don't have polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) or neosporin or anything to put on before the band aid. Is there anything else that would work?

I don't have polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) or neosporin or anything to put on before the band aid. Is there anything else that would work?

Neosporin: While, it may possibly be of some benefit, there is no documented proof that topical ointments such as neosporin or polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) increase healing. Most important is to keep the site clean and ti keep it covered.

I'm allergic to penicillin. Should I use polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) or neosporin for cuts and scrapes?

Polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin): That would be perfectly fine. There are no known problems with this, and polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) and neosporin are not penicillins.
