My wife, pregnant-13 week; hvng a lot of chest congstn with dry cough. Mkng her vomit a lot. Ob had suggstd azithromycin 1gm. Is it safe dose to take?
Yes: Azithromycin is commonly used, even during pregnancy, for sinusitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, as well as other indications, and is the drug of choice for chlamydia. Because of it's once daily dosing, patient compliance is much better. Another benefit is that vaginal yeast infections are far less common after a z-pack than after a course of a penicillin or a cephalosporin. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

26 wks pregnant with sinus & vaginal yeast infection. Dr prescribed both Diflucan (fluconazole) (1 dose) & Zithromax. r they safe taken together? I read they're not
Ask the DR: Zithromax is probably safe during pregnancy. But it is a common cause for yeast problems. Unless you have both high fever and significant sinus pain, it will do nothing for sinus congestion. Drainage, with sniffer or oral med ,is the way to relieve sinus symptoms. Antibiotics are seldom of use. Meclizine is another med which is commonly used but seldom effective. Phenergan (promethazine) will make you sleepy so ...Read more

Incomplete question!: Your question got cut off. Ask again, and remember we cannot see your previous question and you have a 150 character limit: be brief and concise. You got the proper treatment. If after 3 -4 weeks you still have any symptoms you should get checked again, but not sooner than 3 weeks. See http://www.cdc.gov/std/tg2015/chlamydia.htm If this does not answer your question, ask again. ...Read more

I took azithromycin an hour and a half ago and vomited. Will I need another dose? I am 16 weeks pregnant.
No need to re-treat: You don't say what you were treated for, but I'm guessing chlamydia, right? If so, the treatment should work fine. If vomiting occurs more than 30 minutes after taking azithromycin, usually enough is absorbed to cure chlamydia. But check with your doctor; it will be important to be tested in a few weeks to make sure you were cured. Best wishes for a successful pregnancy! ...Read more

Not a bit.: They might slighly increase it by inhibiting the liver getting rid of the depo. AND if someone starts a hormonal birth control it isnt relaible for up to a month after it is BEGUN. If this is one of many depo shots, then , very small risk. If this is 2 days after very first one, much larger risk. ...Read more
