Is Augmentin Good For Bug Bites
Help please! Is ciprofloxacin a good alternative for augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for a cat bite?
Insect bites are from mosquitos, spiders, flies, ticks, and other species that use their mandibles (jaws) to attach to a person or other animal. They can then suck blood out of their "prey" and leave saliva proteins that cause itching and swelling. Other insect species, like bees, yellow jackets, wasps, hornets and fire ants actually inject venom into their prey and can not only cause localized pain and swelling, but severe, acute allergic reactions in ...Read more

Wait it out: And if the blood persists after 4-5 days, consult you primary doctor. A chest xray and blood tests will probably be ordered. You did mention any nosebleeds or gum bleeds or tobacco use so I presume they're not a problem. But coughing blood-tinged sputum during acute bronchtis is relatively common. ...Read more

Will Augmentin clear up the infection from a cat bite or should I also soak my finger in Epsom salts to help it heal?
Both: augmentin helps kill the common bacteria in cat bites ;pasteurella, cleaning the wound daily with soap/water and soaking is often good for a few minutes in epsom salt, it helps kill the bacteria[theres too much salt in the dead sea so no life except rare microbes, makes sense right? ] ...Read more

I have statge 4 cirrhosis......with an obvious spider bite...recomendations? I have augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) very stiff, hot and sore..
Go to Urgent Care/ER: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a brand of amoxicillin & clavulanate (http://www. Drugs. Com/augmentin. Html) which can cause liver issues and are best avoided in those w/liver problems. I can't tell if "very stiff, hot and sore" is due to spider bite or from infection so it's best for you to see medical attention immediately, whether at Urgent Care or local ER. ...Read more

Insect bite?: You CAN do anything you wish. The question is whether it is appropriate, and without seeing the area in question it is impossible to know what is needed. Go see your family doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hello, tooth out last week. Pain in jaw+tooth site still. Is augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) a good a/b? Put on that for 7 days same didn't work for orginl rt canal. Help!
"Reinforcements": Ouch! Though it is possible to still have discomfort 7 days after an extraction, each day of continued pain may point to an infection that needs to be treated. If a previous abscessed tooth did not respond to augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) you might need a different antibiotic or combination of antibiotics to treat what might be many different bacteria at work. Follow up with your surgeon; don't treat yourself. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have paronychia in my left index finger. It has formed an abcess and It has been lanced and I'm currently taking augmentin. A couple of hours ago it burst opened and started draining pus on its own... is this is a good sign?
Recurrent abcess: Can come form the wound sealing up too soon, or from a bacteria or fungus that is not treated fully by the antibiotic. While daring pus is better than pus in a closed space that does not drain, if recurrent symptoms are occurring most would be advised to seek additional medical attention ...Read more

After wrist cat bite, saw two tiny white strings poke out of wound. What was that? Pain/swelling slowly improving on augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) but tendon is sore.
Cat bite wound: Cat bites are quite dangerous-- more so than u might think because the injury is small. 80% of bites become infected and yours certainly is b/c u described pus coming out from the puncture wounds. Oral antibiotics may not be enough - esp if swelling, pain, redness & as u describe pus. Best to have seen again by doc - sometimes IV antibiotics or surgery are required.
