I don't think I am asking question right if my ovary is enlarged would it be due to a mass or can ovarian cancer cause ovary to swell with no mass?

I had a hysterectomy last year aged 29. Gyn left a cyst on ovary said it shall disappear. I have all symptoms for ovarian cancer should I be concerned?

Ultrasound: If you are concerned about the presence of the cyst the Gynecologist saw at the hysterectomy, you can get an ultrasound done to check for the presence or absence of the cyst. Do you have family history of ovarian cancer? You are too young to get your ovaries removed. Surgical menopause at this young age is not recommended. Symptoms of ovarian cancer are vague and can be from colon or stomach too. ...Read more

Depends on age: Most dermoids are benign tumors, but rarely they can be part of malignant tumor. If these cysts change in size based on menstrual cycle, they are not as worrisome. Just watch it 4 now: The large majority of women in their 40s have a couple of simple cysts, and little dermoids are familiar and commonplace. If the radiologist is confident and your gynecologist agrees it's probably a dermoid, then just watch it -- risk of waiting is less than risk of surgery. Glad you are taking a proactive approach to your health, and thanks for a thoughtful question. ...Read more
