Fexofenadine is an antihistamine which is used to treat allergies such as hayfever, and hives. It can be taken once or twice a day. It is a second generation antihistamine and does not cause as much drowsiness as other antihistamines such as Diphenhydramine (benaryl) or chlorpheniramine. Always be careful about drowsiness with any antihistamine especially if driving ...Read more
Depends on the rash: If it is an allergic rash or itchy, consider Allegra or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (but might make you tired). A steroid cream may work if it looks like eczema. A fungal rash can look very similar to eczema in certain cases and steroid cream would make it worse. I would consult your physician to try to figure out the cause of this rash. I avoid Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream. ...Read more

I started itching and have hives, took a allegra at 3:30 am, applied Benadryl (diphenhydramine) ant-itch cream this morning. Noticed hives now can I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) tablet?
Yes, but...: The Allegra (fexofenadine) is a long acting, non-sedating anti-histimine. If the itching hasn't been controlled, it is ok to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) which is a short acting and sedating anti-histimine- so be aware of the potential for drowsiness.....Limit the Benadryl to one or two tablets per day, if continuing the allegra (fexofenadine). ...Read more
Itchy Contact dermatitis - shots, prednisone, Claritin, Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) Allegra, and various creams not helping (getting worse). Any other treatments?
Taking Allegra and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for itchy rash from Johnson's oil. Also using hydrocortisone cream. Can the meds cause diarrhea? How long should I take them
A pediatrician recommended Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for my toddler's cold. Is allegra similar? 24lbs
I've had hives from taking benadryl. Rare but true. Is allegra (fexofenadine) safe for me? Different chemical or the same as diphenhydramine?
I read online there are lots of side effect for Lamisil. Is there any safe alternative cream to treat infant/toddler's athlete foot?
Safe???: Lamisil is safe and effective when used appropriately & was deemed so by the food & drug administration back when it was only available by prescription. After years of use, its track record allowed it to be released to the general public. Any med that is strong enough to help will have side effects in some people. I find it a safe med. Lotramin is another antifungal that is usually effective. ...Read more
Is Cerave moisture cream for toddler with eczema safe? Her dr. Recommended it. But I noticed ingredients such as: phenoxyethanol and propyl paraben?
I have true allergy to Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (had hives when taking the dye-free for a headache.) is allegra safe for me? And would it help my allergic reactions?
Yes: Allergy to Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is rare if at all present. Allegra is quite different from Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in structure and thus should be safe for you. Make sure you are not allergic to the gelatin on the Benadryl (diphenhydramine) capsules. Whether Allegra would work for you or not is another issue but it should be no less effective than benadryl (diphenhydramine). ...Read more
I have what dr says is urticaria but it appears mid morning and mid afternoon, no other time. Using fexofenadine 120mg daily, betnovate cream.
Hives: Hives are interesting because the skin lesions can come and go at any time of day and frequently without an obvious trigger. Fexofenadine is a non-drowsy antihistamine and approved for the treatment of urticaria. Unfortunately, topical creams are not very effective for the treatment of hives. If symptoms persist, an allergist can assist in identifying the trigger. ...Read more

It is safe!:
it is safe to take melatonin and allergra together. However, it is not advisable to take melatonin regularly; I would argue. Our biological systems are controlled by feed-back mechanisms, which regulate our wakeful and sleep hours. Melatonin is a natural product which induces sleep. An exogenous (outside) addition of melatonin can theoretically interfere with our nature. ...Read more
In general, yes,:
Most common potential side effect would be sedation, however, Allegra is the least sedating antihistamine, so unless you are taking extra high dose of benadryl, (diphenhydramine) it would be quite safe.
Often in patients with difficult to control chronic hives, we have to use combination, sometime high dose, of antihistamines to treat the condition. ...Read more

I took the wrong allegra (fexofenadine) for my symptoms 16 hours ago (allegra (fexofenadine) (fexofenadine) 24 hour). Now I want to take allegra (fexofenadine) d 12 hour. Is it safe to take allegra (fexofenadine) d now?
It is ok:
Allegra (fexofenadine) 24 hours is a slow release non drowsy anthistamine. Allegra (fexofenadine) d 12 hours has a decongestant, sudafed or pseudo ephedrine. D stands for decongestant. Allegra (fexofenadine) itself is pretty safe even if the dose is doubled. However, avoid exceeding the dose of decongestant as it can make you hyper and also keep you awake at night.

Expired medication: Typically, when a medication expires, it's because it loses its potency or effectiveness. Double dosing: Many over-the counter medications are provided at 1/2 the prescription dose. For example, otc Pepcid (famotidine) is 20mg, whereas the prescribed dose is usually 40 mg.
