Don't panic: First, make sure you're not pregnant. Not all vasectomies are permanent. If not pregnant, I'm not an OB/GYN, but I would think hormonal imbalance or early menopause would be more likely than CA (depending on your overall health or family history), but I would definitely check in with your PCP. Good luck. ...Read more

Get PAP and HPV: You may do a home pregnancy test. If you do it correctly and it is negative at 7-10 days after the missed period, you would unlikely to be pregnant and may not need to see your doctor as an urgent manner. However, it would be a good idea to see the doctor, establish a baseline observation about your health, get a PAP smear and get HPV vaccination. ...Read more

I have had my period 3 times in the last 6 weeks is this normal? Had biopsy 6 months ago for ovarian cancer. Is this related maybe?

Irergular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. This is not related to a biopsy. Are you sure it was to rule out ovarian cancer? That does not sound right. ...Read more

Your hormones are in: .. flux for some reason. Irregular periods and spotting could mean you may have some hormonal imbalance that could be affected by many different factors, including age (if approaching menopause?), nutrition, illness, exercise (or lack of it), body girth, psychological well-being, stress, season, or simple fluctuations of other related hormones (thyroid for example). Could I have cervical or ovarian cancer if I haven't had a period in 2 years? I have always struggled with my weight. So I am overweight. Could that hyave something to do with it too. My weight has always fluxuated.

Get checked....: Easy enough to screen for ovarian and cervical cancer, would be unusual if you are less than 30 though. More likely it is due to Insulin resistance syndrome and depressed sex hormone binding globulin (shbg). This would also be the reason you have been struggling with your weight issues. Could also be polycystic ovarian syndrome, pcos, also due to Insulin resistance. ...Read more

for 4 months -very light period but some days before - excessively bloated, I am 47 brests swollen 2d before period do I risk to have ovarian cancer?

All women have...: Some risk, 1-2% in a lifetime. It increases after age 60 & in women with a FH of ovarian cancer or who've never given birth. Most of your symptoms are from pre-menopausal hormone changes. Ovarian Ca may cause abdominal bloating but so can many other conditions. A pelvic exam and ultrasound & a blood test called CA-125 are reasonable screening tests if you're particularly worried. Dr. Anne. ...Read more

28 yr f. 8 + pregnant test. Period 1.5 weeks late. Ov cancer causes false positives? Worried. Do women still get their monthly periods with ovarian cancer?

Not ovarian cancer: Only in very rare cases does ovarian cancer cause a positive pregnancy test. Embryonal cell carcinomas, ovarian choriocarcinomas, mixed germ cell tumors, and some dysgerminomas are the only ovarian cancers that produce HCG (positive pregnancy test). All of these types of tumors comprise less than 5% of all ovarian cancers. Have your local ob/gyn get an ultrasound of your pelvis. ...Read more

I got a tube ligation last year and I haven't gotten my period in 2 months 2 weeks and 2 day's and I have ovarian cancer symptoms I'm 30 is it possib?

It is possible: There could be many causes of amenorrhea (no periods) and pelvic pain. It is possible to have premature menopause (menopause at less than 35 years old). When you had your tubal ligation, the ovaries would have been visualized and most likely appeared normal. Your pain may be due to adhesions from the tubal (abnormal scarring). ...Read more

Have high prolactin levels haven't had period for 6 months stomach is starting to become bloated but flat in the morning could I have ovarian cancer?

No. Don't worry!: High prolactin can be caused by a tumor in the pituitary (called a prolactinoma). It can also be caused by medications, hypothyroidism, or smoking marijuana. Do you know why your prolactin level is high? A high prolactin level can cause menstrual changes and infertility. Bloating is not usually a symptom, and bloating is common. If young & healthy..: Many women have occasional variation of their mucus discharge, some spotting between periods, a heavier period, a lighter period, a longer or shorter period, or even a missed period. Having one or two of these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean there is a medical problem, but a visit to one’s primary care or Ob-Gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome. ...Read more
