Is A Cholesterol Ldl 201 Bad
Statins (prescription medications) are the most potent way to lower cholesterol quickly. Certain dietary changes can also lower cholesterol:
1.) high fiber diet
2.) low saturated and trans fat diets
3.) high monounsaturated fats (nuts, avacodo, olive oils, etc)
4.) plant sterols/stanols. ...Read more
Blood LDL Level: LDL is "low density lipoprotein", a particle that carries cholesterol in the blood. Increased LDL is a major risk factor for heart attack, stroke and premature death. Lowering LDL can reduce this risk. LDL levels are estimated by cholesterol (LDL-C). Because the cholesterol carried in LDL particles is highly variable many doctors prefer to use LDL particle number (LDL-P) to manage LDL related risk ...Read more
Not really: Very low LDL cholesterol levels (less than 40) can occur genetically (hypobetalipoproteinemia), in which case such low values are present from birth, or in response to medical therapies. In both settings individuals have normal development, sexual function, and show no specific adverse effects. Low levels are sometimes noted due to severe illness (cancer, etc), but that is a different issue. ...Read more

My cholesterol is 203. Trig 59, HDL 49, LDL 142.2 how bad is my result? Which food should I avoid and which food should I eat?
Not bad, more veg.,,: Your results are not too bad as your total is only slightly elevated. However your LDL is definitely high and it would be wise to try to lower it. Probably the best way is by diet. Stay away from fatty foods like fatty meats and cakes and eat more lean meats and vegetables and fruit to increase fiber which can clear out extra fats and help lower ldh and total chol. Good luck. ...Read more

I am 28 years old my height is 5'4 inches and weight is 54 kgs. My total cholesterol is 286 and LDL is 233 how bad is my result?
Overall, your numbers are higher than desired. Your total and bad LDL are high. There are risk calculators that can "predict" your risk for heart disease in 10 years. Use the following link and plug in your numbers to get your risk (need BP and hdl). Start exercising and eating healthy, and make regular dr. Appointments. Best wishes.

LDL and HDL: In general high LDL cholesterol is associated w/ higher risk of heart & artery disease, while high HDL is generally protective. Genetics is a major determinant of what your levels will be; diet has some influence. Treatments include diet, exercise, & drugs including statins, fibrates, binding resins, & recently some fancy biologic drugs. Medical guidelines on who/how to treat are now very detailed ...Read more

My serum homocysteine test result is 18 umol/l and my LDL cholesterol is 4.52 mmol/l. Are these results good or bad?
What do you suggest if my serum homocysteine test result is 18 umol/l and my LDL cholesterol is 4.52 mmol/l. its bad or not?
Depends. . .: Jury is still out re homocysteine (HCY). Some research suggests that high HCY is bad for heart disease. Yet there is no evidence that lowering HCY will reduce risk. LDL of 4.52mmol/L = 174.8mg/dL which is high but not horribly so. As of 11/13, we consider 4 groups who might benefit from statins so talk w/your family doc to see if you qualify. In meantime, focus on lifestyle modifications. ...Read more
First cholesterol test in 1982 was 203 and last test just done was 213 with HDL and LDL all in normal ranges. Is this good or bad?
Depends: Cholesterol norms vary depending on the risk factors one has such as the presence of hypertension, diabetes, smoking, family history of heart attack, etc. Knowing that as well as the actual #s for your cholesterol fractions may help better determine whether those are normal in your case or not. ...Read more
First cholesterol test in 1982 was 203. Last test in 2013 was 213 with LDL and HDL all in normal ranges. Is this a good or bad sign?
Very good/keep up,,,: This is very good as you've apparently kept your cholesterol from increasing dramatically. Everything else is in range so if you keep working on that total and do good diet and exercise, you'll be doing everything you can short of meds to keep it under control. Best of luck. ...Read more

Need work: Your values are not too bad, but could be much better, especially HDL should be higher. If you are overweight, lost weight. Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form. ...Read more
Just had my Cholesterol test done as part of my Disc Screenings. Apparently LDL was so low it didn’t register - HDL - 0.66 TRIG - 0.69 - total 2.54 - Is this bad? Apparently very low?
Your total cholesterol is about 99 mg/dL which is okay.
Please note that US does not follow metric measures and units of measure in US are different from those in most other countries.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more
Conversion: In the usa, we don't tend to use system internationale units so I converted yours: HDL 39, LDL 100, tg: 70 - milligrams per deciliter. Your HDL is a tad low (high is better); your LDL and tg are normal and in the desirable range. Exercise and olive oil can raise your hdl. If you smoke, quitting will also raise your hdl. Primarily, HDL reflects your genetic inheritance. ...Read more
Am a 37 yr just got my blood worl back Total cholesterol 213 Trygly 121 Hdl 62 Ldl 127 Is this bad???
No: Hardening of arteries happens over time - in other words one is born with clean arteries and plaguing begins to build up at age 10 and progresses depending on ones lifestyle and/or toxic habits (high saturated fat foods, nicotine, high sweetened processed foods etc). So for 37, not knowing your specific fam history or whether u are diabetic etc, your numbers are acceptable. Keep HDL >60; LDL<130 ...Read more
I am 30 years old female. My total cholesterol is 227 trigl 178, HDL 31, LDL 160.4 how bad is my result?
I know LDL cholesterol is known as the "bad" artery clogging cholesterol, but are there healthy levels that are good for you?
Depends on Particles: Ldl can be estimated by cholesterol (ldl-c) or measured by particle number (apob or NMR ldl-p). However, ldl-c and ldl-p do not equally predict cardiovascular risk. When ldl-c and ldl-p values disagree (due to cholesterol variability per particle) cvd risk tracks with LDL particle number, not ldl-c values. Ideal ldl-p values are <1000 nmol/l for high risk patients and <1300 nmol for everyone else. ...Read more

Your HDL chol is low- the only way to improve is to exercise daily and to keep ideal body weight.
Keep the LDL level around 70 if you have strong fh of coronary artery disease.
Your triglycerides are borderline high which can be corrected by daily exercise and proper diet. (low in carbohydrate and sweets). ...Read more
