Bald spot: Many possible causes including simply being on his/her back too much. I would advise seeing the baby's pediatrician first, they should be able to determine the cause and generally you should be able to see your pediatrician a lot sooner than a dermatologist. Good luck ...Read more

Alopecia areata: This is an autoimmune condition where your immune system attacks the hair follicles and hair falls out leaving round bald spots. Often stress or illness triggers it. Sometimes, I will get a sharp pain just to the right of the place on my head where a bald spot would normally be. Should I be worried?

No worries: I don't think you have anything to worry about. There are nerve endings underneath the skin in your entire body. Sometimes, the nerve endings can get excited and sharp pain could result. It is unlikely you have a serious condition but if it becomes really bothersome or more severe I think it would be good to be checked out by a local neurologist. ...Read more

What causes alopecia? I just found a bald spot in the back of my head that's the size of a half dollar. My brother and neice have alopecia.

Alopecia areata: Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease. Autoimmune means that the body's immune system attacks the body. When alopecia areata develops, the body attacks its own hair follicles. A person's genetic makeup, combined with other factors, triggers this form of hair loss. People can have this type of hair loss at any age. Some patients with alopecia areata have a family member who also has the disease. ...Read more

I have a bald spot on the right side of my head and I was wondering what can I do to get my hair back I'm not for sure how big the spot is? Pls help

Diagnosis first: You really have to find out what is causing it, especially because it is one isolated spot. Infection is possible, and if it is, it has to be treated. Sometimes skin biopsy is needed to make a diagnosis. Find the cause, then treat it. ...Read more

Bald spot in the back of my head I am a 50 year old female with a bald spot the size of a softball in the back of my head that I have had for at least 6 months or more

Hello.: Hello. First, I wanted to advise that I can not diagnose your bald spot. Alopecia areata is a medical condition in which you lose a patch of hair. The hair loss can be on your head, your body, and sometimes there can be a total loss of hair. I recommend that you see a dermatologist who can evaluate the cause of the hair loss and provide you with treatment options. Good luck. ...Read more

I have a birth mark on the back of my head, but my hair covers it. If I were to get it removed, will I have a bald spot?

I have a birth mark on the back of my head, but my hair covers it. If I were to get it removed, will I have a bald spot?

Yes, a small one...: About the width of the scar. When a lesion is removed, the surgery approximates the skin margins together so that it heals promptly, but the scar itself will not have hair follicles. Usually hair around it grows and covers the scar, so it is not noticeable unless one's head is shaved. If there is a concern about the birth mark and skin cancer, your life is most important. ...Read more

Bald spot: There are several possible causes of a small bald spot including earlier injury, infection or skin condition. In most cases the hair eventually grows back. Or it might be the first sign of a temporary or permanent hair disorder. If the patch enlarges, see a dermatologist for assessment. Find out more at http://dermnetnz. Org/hair-nails-sweat/hair-loss. I had a bump on my head 3 weeks ago. I scratched it and peeled the scab. Now I have a bald spot my head. How do I get hair growing back on the spot?

Time and patience.: It sounds as though the hair was traumatically removed with the scab. Since you did not have issues prior the scab, it will simply take time and patience to see the hair regrow. Viviscal is a nice over the counter treatment that may speed up the process of hair regrowth in areas such as yours. If the bald spot starts to enlarge, see a doctor. You may have a condition called alopecia aereata. ...Read more

Names matt im 19 and worried cause I have a bald spot on the back of my head overnight and been getting dizzy what's rong with me lower back pains

Unrelated: At age 19, sudden development of a bald spot might indicate a local scalp infection, or maybe you have been losing your hair there for a while and only just noticed. This is highly unlikely to relate to feeling dizzy, and that is unlikely to relate to low back pains. For your scalp see a dermatologist. For the other complaints, see you personal physician for reassurance. ...Read more

Will my hair grow back after a skin biopsy on my head? My doctor wants to do a skin biopsy on my head, but i’m afraid i’ll have a bald spot?

It depends: Depending on how the bx is performed, you may grow back your hair. For example, the bx could be done using and eliptical incision, and the skin could be pulled back together and sutured, so you would have no bald spot when it heals. You would have to discuss the procedure with the dr. To see if they can accomodate your wishes as to trying to do the best procedure to prevent a bald spot. ...Read more

From your description it sounds like you have alopecia areata. Read about it here: http://www. Naaf. Org/

it is usually treated with steroid injections into the area (which will affect your blood sugar). Sometimes a combo of topical steroids and rogaine (minoxidil) helps.

Hi, I have a mark/scar/bald spot on the back of my head which I was told was caused by a brain scan when I was a baby. Can I get rid of it?

Hi, I have a mark/scar/bald spot on the back of my head which I was told was caused by a brain scan when I was a baby. Can I get rid of it?

Need to examine: It is unlikely that the bald spot is due to an imaging study. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. If the spot is not too big, you would do well to cover it with hair from the surrounding areas. If it is of bigger cosmetic concern, you may consult a plastic surgeon.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex. ...Read more
