No but if: Symptoms or just took insulin and no food to cover it maybe but normal sugar fasting is 70-99, 2 hours after a meal <140 but if diabetic we allow more fasting 80-130, 2 hrs after a meal 80-180, somewhere in middle is ideal, some like it stricter but risky since too low can damage the brain cause a coma and more ...Read more
Depends on timing: A normal fasting (fasting = no calories for at least 8 hours) blood sugar level is under 100. A diabetic level is 126 or more. In between is borderline range. If not fasting, blood sugar can be substantially higher; 2 hours after a 75g glucose load, normal is considered to be under 140, and diabetic above 199. Results must be repeated, and not on a home meter (which are not accurate enough). ...Read more
Have best exercise diet & weight. But for last 1 year after every 5 months, my lentus units increases due to bad sugar level. Plz help, m very worried.
Forgive my frankness: Forget the "scale of 1 to 10". I am going to assume that that this is not a lab error, something drawn while you were gravely sick, or drawn from below an IV infusing glucose. If I'm right, and it's mg/dL, then you have diabetes and you are very seriously sick. If you value your health (brain, feet, not being in serious pain) in fifteen years, manage your disease like an adult. ...Read more
Can you guys tell me how bad will it change my blood sugar level if I was 2 hours longer in the fasting procedure?
Since I don't: Understand your question it's hard to answer. If you were fasting and had fasted two hours longer, it probably wouldn't have made a significant difference in your blood sugar -- provided you're talking about a fast of over 6 or more hours. Your body has mechanisms to keep your sugar normal unless you have diabetes or other significant problem. ...Read more

Trying to give up soda Switched to sparkling water that has no calories but has sucralose. Is that as bad as sugar? Trying to keep glucose levels low
As bad a sugar?: Sucralose is an artificial sweetener and in today's world, every artificial food additive will have people on the internet telling you that it's a terrible poison and the cause of most ill-health. I'd urge you to enjoy your soda and be glad that you're not getting a lot of calories to make you fat. How about instead getting a bottle of water and going for a good run? ...Read more
Please can you tell me why I have a healthy diet, no family history of high blood sugar levels, have been told I could turn diabetic? Is it bad luck?
You could say so: Hi. Just to give the opposite point of view, I went thru college, MD/PhD, residency, fellowship, and faculty with type 1 diabetes, and I wouldn't trade my life with a nondiabetic. You could easily have later onset type 1 diabetes. You could check type 1 autoantibodies (4 main ones). If they're positive, you've got your diagnosis. Type 1 comes on more gradually in older age than in kids. Good luck! ...Read more

The human body tries to keep glucose (sugar) levels in the blood stream fairly steady. There is a complex interaction between several hormones (esp Insulin and glucagon) that either stores excess glucose or makes the liver release stored glucose.
Some people have low glucose because they run out of stores or have excess insulin. Others have high glucose due to insufficient Insulin (diabetes). ...Read more
