My wife have high blood pressure 131/96 she is 41week pregnent. Is it ok?

Pregnancy concern: There are 2 point I have to address here. First one some women have high blood pressure during pregnancy. It is controlled with medications and usually it goes away after delivery. Second point usually delivery is at 40 weeks. So if the delivery is delayed you should consult your gynecologist ASAP to see what's the problem for the delay

Hypertension (Definition)

A blood pressure reading has two numbers: a systolic blood pressure and a diastolic blood pressure. The systolic blood pressure is the maximum pressure the blood exerts on the vessels when the heart is beating. The diastolic blood pressure is the pressure the blood exerts on the vessels in between heartbeats. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, begins when the systolic blood pressure remains above 140 or when the diastolic blood pressure remains above 90. Mild: These readings indicate less than ideal control with a goal of 120/80 as a guideline. His hypertension should be easily manageable with the proper dose and/or combination of antihypertensive medication and life style changes, if any are needed.

59 year old male I take ramipril 10mg per day for high blood pressure & my blood pressure is still high 170/80 what do you recommend please?

59 year old male I take ramipril 10mg per day for high blood pressure & my blood pressure is still high 170/80 what do you recommend please?

BP still elevated: Your blood pressure is terribly elevated. You are ramipril (r) and ditiazem (d), both of which are not being given to you at maximum doses. Call your physician (p) and see if you can go to 20 mg of r and 360 mg of d daily. If that does not control your bp, your p may have to increase the number of BP meds you are taking. If your BP is still > 140 on 4 meds, consider secondary causes of hbp.

I am on hydrochlorothiozide and lysinopril for high blood pressure. It keeps my blood pressure too 120 /80. Can I take 200 mg of coq10?

If you want: Your blood pressure seems adequately controlled. If you want to take coq10 it will likely have no impact on your blood pressure. Whether there are any benefits from taking coq10 is not established. It is claimed that muscle aches from statins may be reduced by this supplement but this is not proven. If a chemical is present in or even necessary in an organ does prove benefit from supplementation.

See below: You should consult your doctor regarding your medications. Unsure what time of the day your BP is running high. There's no harm taking it as needed but you should definitely get an evaluation before making any changes to your medical regimen.

How to lower high blood pressure?

How to lower high blood pressure?

Great question: Avoid salt. Achieve and maintain normal weight. If you're overweight, just the process of being on a diet (even before there's any weight loss) will lower bp. Google the "dash" diet. Exercise daily. Aside from these lifestyle changes, you'll need anti-hypertensive medication (s). Your doctor is your ally.

What food for high blood pressure?

Avoid salt: Best to avoid salt in your food/meals as a good first attempt at lowering your blood pressure. Learn to read nutrition labels and search for "sodium" which you should keep less than 2, 000mg/d. Also look for foods high in potassium and magnesium (rather than sodium) as some studies suggest that higher levels of both are associated w/better outcomes. This usually entails eating lots of fruits & vegg.
