Sniffed too hard: 21 yo female using steroid nasal spray now with irritated dry tonsils. Nasal sprays only work well if patients use them properly. Tonsil on one side always gets irritated for a while after exposed to certain chemicals. Always been sensitive to chemicals but why only one tonsil?
Good question: because toxins usually affect everything; but possibly you have some scarring or irritation from previous infections in that one tonsil. Or maybe you breathe preferentially through one nostril that feeds to that tonsil. I guess the best strategy is to avoid all exposure to chemicals, maybe gargle with salt water immediately if you are exposed anyway, and not to worry too much. Good luck! ...Read more
It is possible: It is possible. However it is not safe to guess about whether or not it is viral. It is best to have a streph throat test.
