Give it time: The yolk sac and gestational sac are the earliest structures to form inside the uterus. If on a repeat US, you dont see a small embryo, it can be correlated with the time of your pregnancy, your hormonal levels and that can be used to determine the viability of the pregnancy. Maybe: Janet, You should start having more regular periods within the next 3 months. It really depends on how your body adjusts to the BCP. Sometimes a month is enough, sometimes is takes 2 to 3 months. Why do you need US?: If you have irregular bleeding caused by pill (birth control pills), that does not usually warrant an ultrasound. Unless there is another reason that you need an ultrasound, then I am not sure that either is necessary. If irregular bleeding is caused by pill, perhaps you need to be off that pill and perhaps try a different BCP. In a nonpregnant woman, a transvaginal US is often needed. ...Read more
