Skin creases on finger(lower side&back)seem stretched/more evident, after 1month coban wrap(pip joint), while normal movement&stretching. What can I do?

The pip joint: Creases on top of the finger can go "missing" for a time if the joint is swollen and stiff. The skin there is very flexible and if the jointis bent a little or the joint is full the creases look different. The creases don't really strethc they just look different until time passesif and when / after the mechanics normalize. ...Read more

Fractured radius — why are my finger joints are very stiff each morning? Improves during the day with movement.how long will this last? Thanks

Swelling from break: The fracture causes inflammation, which impedes the normal flow of lymph from the hand to the arm and then into the central veins. Because of this slowdown, your fingers are a little swollen and feel stiff.

Elevating your arm, which gives the flow a boost from gravity, might help.

This is temporary, don't worry. ...Read more

Middle finger. Rt hand sudden excruciating pain at proximal joint. Worsened if any movement... Grip progressively weaker(no trauma prior to pain).?

Specialist consult: You need to go see a hand specialist, likely and orthopedic surgeon (they do more than surgery) to determine if there is any damage in the hand causing this pain. Could be a number of causes but only imaging and a consult with a specialist will tell you what you need to know to initiate treatment. ...Read more

I'm 22; 4'10" and have had joint aches for 15 years. Happens usually when cold and impairs joint movement. Should I continue pain meds or see a doc?

Joint pain: By all means, see a doctor. There are many medical illnesses that can cause your symptoms. Correct diagnosis is very important. Anti inflammatory pain meds can cause abdominal and kidney issues when taken too often and tylenol (acetaminophen) can cause liver issues. Narcotic pain meds are highly addictive and not recommend for long term use except in rare cases. Good luck! ...Read more

I've had dull leg pain for years. It's NOT in the joints, temporarily feels better with heat and movement &has been "migrating" recently. What is it? :/

Not sure: Very generic description. Where exactly is the leg pain? In the feet or further up? If it's in the feet and soles then a peripheral neuropathy can be considered especially if there is a history of diabetes, or other risk factors such a chemo treatment. Neuropathy tend to involve both legs so if the symptoms are unilateral then something else like a radiculopathy should be considered. ...Read more

Not caused by injury. For the past week, I have been unable to fully bend or extend elbow. Pain is on the inside, top of the joint during movement.

Locked elbow: Very important to make sure you do not have a spontaneous infection. If you have any fever redness or lots of pain with motion go to ER or your family doctor and get this checked out ASAP. If not infected could be a loose body or other soft tissue structure getting stuck in the elbow joint. Go to an orthopedic surgeon and get 3Vs xrays of the elbow done. If Xrays negative then get MRI. ...Read more

Yes: You can do that for a few days — ice it, keep it elevated, take ibuprofen. If blood collects under the nail you may need to see the doctor to have it drained. If there is pain past just the finger tip then I would see a doctor for an x-ray. ...Read more
