Intestinal Parasites Cause Abdominal Flutters
I'm a male, and I'm having weird fluttering movment in my abdomen, and it scares me because I think of parasites. What can it be?
Abdominal movements: Your description is not specific and parasitic infections are extremely rare to cause such symptoms. Of course, rare cases happen, but that would be almost at the bottom of my list. Other possible explanations would be increased bowel peristalsis (movements). Possibly aortic pulsation may cause that. I would ask for advise of your regular doc first.
The gastrointestinal tract starts at the mouth, travel down the tunnel (esophagus), which connects to the stomach, which then empties into the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum---the three parts of the small intestine (@25 feet). This empties into the colon or large intestine (about 5 feet), which then becomes the sigmoid colon, rectum and out the anus. So, every morsel eaten ...Read more
Lots of fluttering in lower left abdomen 2 weeks, no missed periods. Tubes tied. Def not gas? Parasite? Ectopic? Haven't taken PTest. Thoughts? Ty
Can parasites cause severe constipation? I went to South Africa 4 months ago & while there started to have many symptoms of intestinal parasites.
Unusual: Constipation would be an unusual symptom in intestinal parasite infection. Diarrhea is much more common. But the parasites do affect movement/motility of the bowel, so constipation could be part of the cycle. If you haven't done so already, contact your doctor/health department to submit stool samples to check for all intestinal pathogens. That said, the constipation may well be irritable bowel.
What causes "fluttering" sensation in the abdomen, both sides, lower to mid? I've some anxiety lately. Feeling comes & goes, eases if I burp a bit...
34 F. Slight blood on outside stool prev & stinging, none recently. Also feeling slight flutter feeling both sides of abdomen. Poss causes? No hx ca.
Abd flutter = nerves: U prob have (or had) hemorrhoids, which can cause a stinging sensation & some blood in ur stool (also present when you wipe). Hemorrhoids can regress (go away) if u change ur diet & hygiene patterns. At 34 yrs, it would be very RARE to get colon cancer. The odds r with u that this problem is limited, but TTYD & perhaps a surgeon or GI doc when it happens. Queasiness causes "flutter" as does worry.
Spasms and Twitches: The small muscles around the bowel and muscles of the inner back and abdomen can spasm and twitch. Just is just like the twitches you feel on your skin sometimes. But it's inside on the muscles around the bowels or inner back.
Intestinal ulcers: Without being able to have access to your records and the tests that have been run it is impossible to say what is going on. Intestinal parasites seldom cause ulcerations, and would also have to ask where you have been to get parasites. You must be seeing a gastroenterologist. Have them continue their evaluation.See 1 more doctor answer
What's the intestinal disease caused by a single cell parasite from rat droppings in drinking water?
Cryptosporidium: Rats can harbor cryptosporidium but how often they are related to human cases is unknown although the original source of the protozoan in human infection is often not known.See 1 more doctor answer
What causes a fluttering sensation in the lower abdomen? It's happened about 5 times in the last 2 days. Doesn't feel like gas?
Gas /Air/Peristalsis: Fluttering "gas" may reflect malabsorption of food (like gluten, lactose), intake of poorly digested food, or choosing foods known to promote gas (beans, fizzy drinks). Sometimes its more complicated--a stomach emptying too slowly, bacterial overgrowth syndrome, delayed intestinal function, partial obstruction from any cause, infection, rectum problems, and pelvic pathology outside the gut.
Every once in a while (6-12months) I will have a burning sensation in my lower abdomen (intestinal area) no matter what I eat, what could cause this?
What would cause a fluttering feeling in middle of abdomen? This seems to happen everyday but I don't know what it could be?
Probably nothing: There are muscle twitches that can be bothersome. The midline is an unusual location but possible. The intestines inside don't contract fast enough to cause twitches. It seems a superficial abdominal wall muscle sensation. It doesn't mean anything dangerous. If you see muscle twitching elsewhere in your body, it may be a sign of a more widespread neuromuscular disorder. In such case consult a doc
Start with diagnosis: Depending upon doctor's suspicion, based on your exposure risks & symptoms, your stool culture may look for salmonella, shigella, campylobacter, yersinia, & sometimes pathogenic e.Coli, additionally, stool can be checked for std, clostridium difficile, giardia, parasites, opportunistic pathogens. Parasites also found colonoscopically & by "scotch-tape test" of peri-anal area looking for shed eggs.
Past day I feel an involuntary flutter/spasm (no pain) in abdomen just below bottom rib, center-right. Easier to feel when laying on back. Causes?
ATwitchInTimeMakes9: Many people get little muscle twitches or 'flutters' or momentary spasms. Sometimes quite prominently (ever see the movie 'Dr Strangelove? ' or'The Pink Panther? '). They usually go away after a while and don't mean much unless they occur during stressful times or when taking certain certain stimulant medications or too much coffee or caffeinated drinks or...if they persist too long like, say 3 weeks
What is the cause of painless flutter in rt side of abdomen. Post pelvic radiotherapy 5 months ago for vagina wall cancer?
Probably gas: I see a lot of patients who suddenly notice things about their bodies that are perfectly normal, that they didn't pay attention to until they became sick. Unless there's something more, you're probably fine. But do be sure to bring it up next time you see your doctor.
I had a C-section 14 months ago since then I have been feeling flutters and movement in my lower abdomen and occasional spasms. What causes this?
Are you preg?: Have you done a pregnancy test to see if you're pregnant again? Movement in the abdomen makes me think this is a possibility. If your pregnancy test is negative then the movement is likely gas.
For the last week I have felt almost constant vibrations/fluttering in my lower abdomen & rectum. Could it be caused by a enlarged uterus? Or? Thanks
I've had migraines and double vision. Numb hands shortness of breath. Recently tested positive for intestinal parasite. Could it cause other symptoms?
Parasites: Can cause lots of GI symptoms but not the symptoms you mention. You need to see your doctor ASAP for help. If he/she is not able to help please move on to a specialist such as a neurologist and/or eye doctor. Peace and good health.
Went to chile and had colon/intestinal lower abdomen pain, high high fever, only happened after I drank tap water. What are some possible causes?
Amoebiasis: A very large percentage of travels to this region of the world are exposed to entamoeba histolytica. Most traveler's diarrhea is, however, due to e. Coli. Woudl definitely go and get your stool examined for amoebiasis and treated if positive since extraintestinal disease with this protozoan can be very severe.
What is the cause of sore breasts and itchy nipples of flutters in the abdomen n cramping since I'm on the implanon over a year what is the reason.
Nexplanon: Nexplanon contains only Progesterone. Breast tenderness is not a common side effect of Progesterone only methods. I would investigate other causes. Common causes of breast tenderness include weight changes, dietary changes, cysts, hormonal fluctuations, ill fitting bras and changes in exercise pattens. A breast exam is the next step.
