Can residents and fellows join HealthTap to answer patient questions? Do their answers on HealthTap need to be reviewed and confirmed by an Attending?
May or may not.: If you are healthy all your life and you have normal chest x-p, I see no reason of failing visa interview. However, for example, if you have a abnormal shadow in the lung, you may be suspected of having TB. You may have to show more evidence to tell that your lung shadow is simply an inactive scar tissue, by providing older chest x-ps. ...Read more
I am trying to understand how billing works for m.D.S performing a service or for pharma prescriptions in different settings(hospital, dr's office)?
E&M codes: Mds bill for their services using e/ m (evaluation and management) codes. The code used depends on the level of service and the location that the service is provided (office, hospital, er). Mds can also bill for medications (not a prescription) that are administered, or procedure performed in the office. Medications administered in hospital or er are billed by the hospital, not md. ...Read more
Why do so many medical offices ask for unnecessary & intrusive personal information (ssn, drivers licenses) unrelated to medical records?
Required by law: It is required by law & insurance contracts that they have with companies & that you signed with those same companies. They need to make sure you are who you say you are & that they have proof. Also, if there is any legal question in the future, they can prove that they verified your identity. Finally, insurance companies use this info to track your health & put it into a central database. ...Read more
Impossible to know -: - too many variables, including the test, the website, the security of your computer, etc. A bigger issue however is the validity/usefulness of such "tests". Maybe they help you think further about the issue of anxiety, but you should not rely upon them. Get evaluated fully and properly by a specialist in mental health (physician and/or psychologist). ...Read more

They CAN do anything: Whether it's ethical is another story, and whether it is legal depends on what state you are in. Doctors do many tests without explaining the details to their patients, but those tests don't generally have the legal potential to cause harm as drug testing does. Some states (but not California, as far as I know) DO require testing of pregnant women, typically at childbirth. ...Read more
At best a screening: Think about it. If you do, you'll see how unreliable it would be. Even with validated psychometric tests, experts differ often. Dx is seen by serious professionals is one of the greatest challenges. That said, once an experienced, well-trained pro does their 'thing' - they usually do have a good idea about the problems and best treatments. ...Read more

Each of them has a side effect of dulling your sexual appetite, which may help your ocd like habit. Get labs done prior and good luck. No payment needed :). ...Read more
