Interstitial Cystitis Prevent Able
Interstitial Cystitis is also known as Painful bladder syndrome. Interstitial cystitis is a chronic disease of the bladder, causing pain, for which the cause is presently unknown. It is associated with urinary frequency, urgency and waking at night to urinate. It is a diagnosis of exclusion, in that other causes of bladder pain/urgency/frequency should be excluded first. Ic can be ...Read more
Using continuous Marvelon and 10mcg vagifem. Have Interstitial cystitis. Starting to experience spotting. Is this an expected side effect? Thank-you
Strange combination: Marvelon + Vagifem is a bit of strange combination. Marvelon is a combination birth control pill used to prevent pregnancy. Vagifem is a Estrogen supplement used when menopause is affecting the vagina. If menopausal you shouldn’t need Marvelon and if premenopausal then you shouldn’t need Vagifem. I would have the bleeding evaluated and discuss the medication options. ...Read more
Diagnosed with interstitial cystitis.Tylenol, narcotic pain pills, diet change give no pain relief. Will Lyrica help.My twin says it helps her IC pain?
AZO - OTC - works.: The OTC pills work for many of my friends and patients. If not, your PCP can Rx - Gantrisin /pyridium. No reason to step up to psychotropic type meds for a urinary tract issue. Take it step by step. Drink lots of water. Ask doctor for ideas to prevent recurrence - it can become chronic and it's great to nip it in the bud. Bst wishes! ...Read more
Is taking 10 mg vicodan 3 x day.klonopin at nite to sleep. Hydroxyzine for interstitial cystitis. Imitrex for migraines too much? I have fibromyalgia
Impossible to say: If the 30 mg of hydrocodone a day is for fibromyalgia, then I would say its too much of the wrong drug. If it is for the hip fracture, and you are within a few weeks of the injury, it may be appropriate. Fibromyalgia is best treated with appropriate exercise and the use of both antidepressants and anticonvulsants. You aren't on anything to prevent migraine. Discuss with your doctor. ...Read more
Painful Bladder: Ic is a condition that has multiple symptoms. Most common symptoms are frequent urination, urinary urgency and pain in the bladder and pelvic area. There is no definitive test to diagnose ic, but there is usually inflammation of the lining of the bladder that produces the symptoms. Treatments include dietary changes, medication, and possibly bladder instillation of various compounds. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Medicine in bladder: While a low acid diet and some oral medications will help ic, what I have found to be the fastest way to make a bladder feel better is to inject medicine directly into the bladder. These are called "instillations" and we use a variety of drugs, usually a local anesthetic and either elmiron, heparin, or steroids. It's important to do this along with a multifaceted treatment program. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

See list: Alcohol, artificial sweeteners, coffee, citrus juices, cranberry juice, hot peppers, side and spicy food. However, not everyone will "flare" with everything on the list. Some people will flair with items not on the list. I would suggest a food diary and an elimination diet. These tools will help you gain control over your life. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Pbs is also called interstitial cystitis (ic). It is a chronic condition of the bladder that causes pain in the pelvis and low abdomen. The exact cause is unknown but seems to have some correlation with endometriosis and is more common in women. There is a lot of research by urogynecology and urology trying to better understand what causes it and how to treat it. Diet has ...Read more
